  • Feb 9 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly: Bruno, Bret on HHH, PED’s in sports, more~!

The topic du jour this week is the return of Bruno Sammartino to the WWE fold, and there’s plenty of discussion on that in this edition of Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly. Somehow Les Thatcher & Victor Sosa managed to spend the first 18 or so minutes on the Super Bowl, soccer’s match fixing scandal, Alex Rodriguez being investigated for PED’s and their place in sports.  The talk about drugs in sports leads into talk about the return of Bruno Sammartino to WWE, why HHH says Bruno is a real asset to the current WWE roster and more.  Also covered: Bret Hart’s comments on HHH, TNA leaving the Impact Zone, and more~!  If you’re in the northeast USA and you’re snowed in, a fine show to shovel to.  Have a great weekend~!

  • Feb 2 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly: Has John Cena become Dusty Rhodes?

I know what that headline looks like, but I promise that if nothing else, the theory behind that headline will make some sense after you hear a message that Les Thatcher & Victor Sosa got this week from a friend of the show.  Of course, we’ll also talk about Royal Rumble, the internet exploding about the results and Raw.  Toss in some Super Bowl predictions and more cool tv shows and you’ve got yourselves another fine edition of Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly~!

Lots to cover this week, so Vic and Les get right into the segment everyone’s talking about; the Punk vs. Rock promo.  Also, can Alberto Del Rio reach new heights with his new push, the TNA wedding angle & Genesis PPV picks, a little NFL playoffs and yes, Les watches NEW JAPAN PRO WRESTLING~!  Well, two matches from the Tokyo Dome show.  Quick note; in discussing Del Rio, it will be obvious this show was recorded Friday; I (Vic) had some personal things to attend to that kept me from being able to post the show before Saturday.  My apologies, and we hope you enjoy your weekend!

  • Dec 27 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly w/special guest Mike Mooneyham on Rip Hawk, Mid Atlantic & WWE~!

Victor Sosa and Les Thatcher end 2012 with a bang as we welcome our special guest, famed wrestling journalist Mike Mooneyham of The Post and Courier in Charleston, SC!  Between Les and Mike, there’s plenty of great stuff on the late Rip Hawk, the famous team of Hawk and Swede Hanson, their influence on Ric Flair, the great teams that frequented the territory in the days of Jim Crockett Sr., the first time Les Thatcher ever met the Andersons, and yes, a little bit about modern day wrestling.  But the main focus of this show is old school, and it’s a great way to wrap a great year of Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly~!  Thank you so much for listening in 2012, and we wish you and yours a very happy and healthy new year!!!!!!

  • Dec 21 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly: 3 Months of Flair in one night, Accents on commentary, more~!

Since the Mayans were clearly jobbers and we’re all still here, we figured we may as well serve up another edition of Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly for your weekend! Among the subjects on the minds of Les Thatcher and Victor Sosa are the surprisingly great booking of The Shield, the less than stellar booking of Cena/Ziggler/AJ (at least, not for Dolph), how WWE booked Ric Flair to deliver the greatness on Monday…..that they could’ve gotten much more mileage out of. Also, Les finds the thoughts of some in ROH management rather curious regarding accents (yes, accents), judgment on Impact, how to get through to the Hulkster, where (and where not to) order gifts online if you want them in time for Xmas, and our sincere hope that you have a great weekend and a very Merry Christmas!

  • Dec 14 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly: Next top guy in WWE, TLC PPV picks, Covering mistakes, more~!

Les Thatcher and Victor Sosa present another fine edition of Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly!  TNA talk this week about a mistake made on Impact, what should’ve been done about it, psychology issues, Joe Park in OVW and some sloppy wrestling.  The talk turns to WWE where Vickie and AJ weren’t as over as Vince hoped, an interesting note in the Observer about the next top guy in WWE, and the TLC PPV prediction game.  The show takes a left turn after the picks, but where else are you going to hear about wrestling, art, xmas songs, football, UFC (!) and a song that was too hot for the radio back in the day?  This show was recorded before either of us was aware of what happened in Connecticut today; our hearts go out to everyone who is suffering terribly at this time.

Victor Sosa and Les Thatcher bring Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly to the Empire Airwaves this week with lots of thoughts on the Kevin Matthews/Bill DeMott debacle. From there, we jump into lots of WWE talk about how critical TLC could be for Dolph Ziggler and The Shield, what could be done to rehab Ziggler if Cena does win the briefcase, and Les’ ideas on how to address the disaster that is The Miz as a babyface.  We wrap with a few Impact notes and the PPV prediction game for Final Resolution this Sunday.  We hope you enjoy the show and have a wonderful weekend~!
