This week’s show is on the road, as Les dials in from sunny Los Angeles so that he and Vic can talk about Cauliflower Alley in Las Vegas & prepping for the debut of Wrestling Cares next weekend. Interspersed are such subjects as Edge, Beth Phoenix, motivating people to get into the business, Lars Anderson, Verne Gagne’s influence on the Mid Atlantic territory and a great story about a match Les had with Ronnie Garvin near the end of Les’ in ring career. Our best to all those in the Boston area; please be smart and as safe as you can!

March 29 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly: Playing the Game that is WWE, great stories, more~!
Lots of great material on the site this week, and this show plays off of some of that material. In discussing the interviews Bryan & Dave conducted with Chris Jericho and Dr. Tom Prichard, Victor Sosa and Les Thatcher take some interesting twists and turns. Some of them are the difference between the stamina needed for boxing as opposed to wrestling, Les’ memories of wrestling and traveling with the legendary Gori Guerrero, the style of commentary expected in the 70’s and 80’s as opposed to today, and what it’s like to maneuver around the political minefield that is WWE. This show was recorded before the news broke regarding the passing of Reid Flair. We extend our deepest sympathies to the entire Flair family at this most difficult time.

March 21 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly: Dropping the Urn on the road to Mania~!
Yeah, so Raw was bad. You might have heard that already, but you’ll get that and more from Les Thatcher and Victor Sosa today. Namely, another discussion around little things meaning a lot where Fandango is concerned, a theory on why HHH’s recent segments have lacked crowd reaction, a cool thing Les found in his closet, and a little bit on the late Don Carson, which leads to a fun ring tale about a young Dick Murdoch. Oh, and some March Madness too. Happy tournament weekend~!

There’s also plenty on Aces & Eights and are we really headed towards a Hogan-Ray title match? And some great info on the guys involved in the upcoming WCA show. Thanks for listening and enjoy your weekend~!

Nigel McGuinness joins the show to talk about his fantastic documentary, The Last of McGuinness. We’ll also talk about Nigel’s roles in ROH, the 11th Anniversary show on iPPV this Saturday, similarities between standup comedy and wrestling, what it was like to train under Les and his current role in the new Wrestling Cares promotion as they get ready for their first show in April. We hope you enjoy the show and have a great weekend~!

Feb 23 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly: Swagger, Old School Mentality, New Wrestling Group, more~!
Jack Swagger and his future is one of the main topics for Les Thatcher & Victor Sosa this week, but so is a question from the board that came from the Observer radio interview with Mike Quackenbush a few weeks back regarding “old carney” mentality vs a fresh, 2013 approach. To hear the audio that led to the question, check the Observer radio archives for Feb 1 of this year and it’s about 24 minutes in. Also want to mention that Nigel McGuinness will be sitting in for Les next week, so feel free to send any questions for Nigel by posting in this show’s thread in “radio shows” section of THE BOARD~!

Feb 16 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly: Elimination Chamber Preview and Predictions, more~!
Les Thatcher and Victor Sosa spend a lot (I mean, A LOT) of time on WWE this week; between Raw, Elimination Chamber predictions and Directv’s email regarding the WWE Network. There’s also a quick look at Impact, and the decision to remove wrestling from the Olympics (and whether it might actually be a good thing for MMA & pro wrestling fans). Thanks for listening and have a great weekend~!
