  • April 7 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly: The Last Word on Wrestlemania, Les’ WCW Experience, & more~!

Victor Sosa returns to Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly, but he did not bring breakfast for Will Strause & Les Thatcher.  You’ll understand within the first 60 seconds.  That breakfast discussion leads into a variety of subjects, including Planet Fitness gyms, who have the most amazing gimmick and catchphrase you’ll ever see from a gym, Wrestlemania discussion and where WWE is heading with their angles now, Les’ upcoming travels and some interesting things in the pipeline, as well as an absolutely fascinating story that sprung from a question on the board.  The question was about Les’ time as part of WCW developmental, but somehow takes us to the day before Dean Malenko, Perry Saturn, Eddy Guerrero and Chris Benoit walked out of WCW and into the then-WWF.  Les inadvertently found himself in the middle of the chaos the night Benoit beat Sid for the WCW championship and why Les wished he was just about anyplace else that day.  Seriously, an incredibly interesting tale which is worth a listen all on its own.  Feel free to visit our thread in the radio shows section of the message board to let us know what you think, and check out a few extras too!

  • Mar. 31 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly: Wrestlemania from every angle!

Will Strause and Les Thatcher are here to preview Wrestlemania!  Vic sat this one out in protest of the horrible job he thinks WWE did in building interest for the show.  Well, no, he actually was away this weekend, but that didn’t keep him from getting his two cents worth on the air via email.  Too bad there was no anonymous GM sound effects with his email.  From discussion on the build of this year’s WM, to predictions to everything in between, you’ll find it here.  There’s also some TNA discussion, and ROH talk about the show you may have ordered the other night and unfortunately may not have seen much of due to some serious technical issues.

  • Mar. 25 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly with special guest JJ DILLON~!

This was FUN.  Victor Sosa, Les Thatcher and Will Strause talk the news for the first 30 or so minutes; Hogan returning to Impact, Tweeting with Kurt Angle, thoughts on the great interview Bryan & Dave did with Nigel McGuiness, and somehow, it also turned into fashion week on the show.  Then we are joined by the Executive Director of the Four Horsemen, Mr. James J. Dillon!  We talk about the Kayfabe Commentaries DVD, “Being A Horseman”, a hilarious story about a shoe shopping trip with Ric Flair, keeping the political peace between the Horsemen and booker/top babyface Dusty Rhodes, another awesome tale regarding Les & JJ’s friend Luther Lindsay, induction into the WWE Hall of Fame and more.  An extra long show this week, but we believe it’s worth your time.  As always, visit our thread in the radio shows section of the board if you’d like a few extras!

  • Mar. 17 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly; RANT CENTRAL, Including an epic on on WWE Developmental~!

If you enjoy hearing Professor Les go off….and off….and off, then man, this is YOUR SHOW!  One of those weeks where almost everything that came up turned into a rant, and it is GREAT.  Will Strause, Victor Sosa and Les Thatcher will touch on the build to the 3 biggest matches at Wrestlemania, discuss the return of A-Train/Albert/Giant Bernard to WWE, and spend some time on Impact, which we hadn’t done in a while, including Victory Road PPV predictions.  But you want that rant, don’t you?  There’s more than one, but the big one centers around WWE developmental.  It started during discussion of Dave’s very interesting piece in this week’s Observer about FCW, and Les took the ball and ran with that, not only touching upon the issues that came up in the HWA & OVW era, but bringing it to FCW, and why handing out marching orders from Stamford to Tampa doesn’t work.  Swing by our thread in the “radio shows” section of the board for some fun links, too!

  • Mar. 10 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly: T-Shirts, Rock holding back?, Les’ Trip, Football(!), more~!

That would be American Football, by the way.  60 minutes of wrestling, 5 minutes of football, and a football show might’ve been the way to go this week.  That is, if you’re down on the build to Rock/Cena, as Vic most certainly is.  Plenty of that as well as Undertaker/HHH and if Shawn is really necessary is discussed this week, along with those wonderful Kayfabe T-shirts.  Les tells us about his trip to Mobile, Alabama for the Gulf Coast Wrestlers Reunion, which sounds like a great time for all involved, a great question from the board about telling a story in the ring, and FOOTBALL!!!!  Well, just a little football discussion which actually started out of the answer to the telling a story in the ring question.  Hope you enjoy and have a great weekend!

  • Feb. 25 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly: Cena’s promo, JYD (!), leaving the business, and much more~!

The new great granddad, Les Thatcher, “Mr. Moneybags” Will Strause, and Victor Sosa present a damn good edition of Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly!  Lots of talk about John Cena’s promo on Rock from Raw in terms of why whomever is upset with Rock is pointing fingers at the wrong guy, more on African American wrestlers, as we close out February discussing Bearcat Brown and the Junkyard Dog, plus Les talks about why he didn’t see too many incidents of racism in wrestling locker rooms in the 60’s & 70’s.  There’s also a brief dissertation on the price of gas, we answer questions from the board, discuss why a journalists’ recent decision to stop covering the business is a big deal, and Les reveals the subject matter of a future show that we’ve been working hard on putting together.  Also, feel free to stop by our thread in the radio shows section of the board for a few extras!

  • Feb. 18 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly: Linsanity in wrestling, Ernie Ladd, WWE PPV Picks, more~!

Will Strause is ON CALL, which means it’s up to Victor Sosa and Les Thatcher to deliver this edition of Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly!  And what a week it was; we’ll talk about good and bad of WWE TV, discuss whether LINSANITY ever gripped wrestling in Les’ day (and you might be surprised at the name he brings up)…for those who have no idea what Linsanity is, it will be explained before we go into it.  In addition, some time is given to what TNA looks like in the immediate aftermath of Vince Russo’s departure, as well as Lance Storm’s rant on flippin’ and floppin, Elimination Chamber predictions, the legendary Big Cat Ernie Ladd, and Whitney Houston as well.  A fun show, and remember, if you visit our thread in the radio shows section of the board, there are some extras waiting for you!

  • Feb. 11 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly: Great African American wrestlers, Role of referees, much more!

The entire gang is together (for most of the show), as Les Thatcher, Will Strause and Victor Sosa bookend discussion with WWE talk.  In between doom and gloom, we begin a bit of a mini series for the rest of the month getting Les to talk about some great African American wrestlers of the past; Les will give his take on them and their careers, and go inside the locker rooms of the day to discuss the state of the industry during that time in our history.  We’ll also tackle more questions from the board, including the role of referees in a match, the biggest opportunity WWE missed in the last decade, and the differences between studio and arena wrestling.  That last one prompts some good stories about why it’s not good to take bumps when you’re doing tv in High Point, NC, and nearly rendering an entire studio unconscious thanks to an angle involving chloroform!  Visit our thread in the radio shows section of the board for some interesting links as well!

  • Feb. 4 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly:Benoit vs. Regal, Taker & HHH at WM, Questions from the board!

Will Strause and Les Thatcher have lots to discuss this week, including thoughts on Raw and Impact from England….where the fact that another man got concussed and there was no apparent acknowledgement from the referee or his opponent did not escape the watchful eye of Mr. Thatcher.  Les also discusses the first Pillman show he put together and the pairing of Benoit and Regal at that show.  Toss in some talk about Undertaker vs. HHH and questions from THE BOARD, and you’ve got another fine edition of Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly!

  • Jan. 28 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly: A look at Smokey Mountain Wrestling; Rumble Predictions & more

Victor Sosa and Les Thatcher go almost completely old school today, as we talk about Les’ time working for Smokey Mountain Wrestling. Before we get there, though we will touch briefly on WWE, and discuss when enough is enough…the right time to end a match, and why not enough guys know when that is these days.  As for the SMW discussion, you’ll hear about the differences between working with Bob Caudle, Dutch Mantell and Jim Ross on commentary, having Jim Cornette as a boss, and why Les’ crew who used to think he was too hard on them changed their minds when they met Jim Cornette.  Hint; it has to do with broken windows.  We’ll also talk about the circumstances behind the demise of SMW, and legendary music producer Rick Rubin, who initially was one of the financial backers of the promotion.  Finally, we’ll wrap with predictions for the Royal Rumble PPV!  A really fun show, and we’d love for you to visit our thread in the “Radio Shows” forum on the board for some extras you won’t find on the main page!
