  • Jan. 21 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly – That man got KNOCKED THE F@#! OUT!!!!!!

Broadcasting this week from Smokey Joe’s Cafe, it’s Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly with Les Thatcher, Will Strause and Victor Sosa!  We stole the B&V show opening gimmick this week, and if you heard last week’s show, then I’m sure you’ll understand.  If you’re looking for detailed analysis of this past week’s wrestling tv, this ain’t your show.  We do spend a decent amount of time discussing Evan Bourne’s issues, but the majority of this show is spent on another topic; concussions.  No, not a clinical discussion, but with Low-Ki knocking a man out last week, we talk about how situations like that should be handled, where the fault lies when a match is not stopped as a result of someone getting their bell rung, working stiff vs. working lightly, and the reason the traditional wrestler’s handshake is a limp one.  Be on the lookout for our “Questions for Les” thread, which should be up in the “Radio Shows” part of THE BOARD around midweek and enjoy today’s show!

  • Jan. 14 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly; Great Les rant, Battle Royals, assorted hilarity~!

Les Thatcher, Will Strause and Victor Sosa return for one of the more humorous editions of Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly.  Les attempts to discuss Brodus Clay’s debut without going on a rant.  He managed that, but could the legend get through all the Raw discussion without losing it?  As the late Gorilla Monsoon used to say, “Highly unlikely”.  Also discussed: the Horsemen in the HOF, the end of wrestling at the former ECW arena, a question on the board about battle royals, Jitterbug Mary, Smokey Joe’s Cafe, and Tom Jones~!  No, not that Tom Jones.  See our thread in the radio shows section of the board for more!  This show goes off the rails at times, but in a fun way.  Enjoy!

  • Jan. 6 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly; WWE Classics on Demand, TNA PPV, Abyss = PR GURU, more~!

While Will Strause is off wearing wacky outfits at a comic book convention, Victor Sosa and Les Thatcher are here for their first show of 2012.  Since WWE didn’t offer much in their first show of the year, they don’t get much time here.  TNA talk includes Ring Ka King, PPV predictions for Genesis, and a tremendous tale about Les’ neighbor, Abyss.  Picture this; Abyss….public relations guru!  And somehow, that leads to a HOCKEY STORY.  Apologies to Adam & Mike.  We close out talking about what Vic watched with his WWE 24/7 subscription this week that takes us to some truly awesome stories of a man who was a dear friend of Les, and a hell of a wrestler, Luther Lindsay.  Les brings the goods discussing this great man.  You can also learn a little more about Luther Lindsay and his career here:

  • Dec. 30 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly: If I ruled the wrestling world!!!

Together for the last time in 2011, Will Strause, Victor Sosa, and the legendary…..Les Thatcher talk ROH’s Final Battle, then the main focus for the day; IF I RULED THE WRESTLING WORLD.  We’ll go around the horn discussing what kind of New Year’s Resolutions we would make if we woke up on New Year’s Day in charge of ROH, TNA, and WWE respectively.  Then, a quick attempt by Vic to make sense of the art of the chairshot to the head, as taught by Les Thatcher. This one seems to be a challenge for Mr. Sosa.  By the way, feel free to tell us what you would do if you found yourself in charge of any or all of these companies in 2012 in our thread in the “Radio Shows” section of THE BOARD.  Thank you so much for choosing to spend time with us this year, and we wish you a very happy, healthy and successful 2012!!!!

  • Dec. 18 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly: TLC PPV Predictions, Lots of talk on build to Rumble & Mania~!

With sincere apologies for the lateness of this show (which is explained in the first few minutes) Victor Sosa, Les Thatcher and WILL STRAUSE dig deep into tonight’s WWE TLC PPV.  It’s more than just show predictions; lots of discussion on what’s ahead in the coming weeks and months for each of these performers as the build to Royal Rumble (and road to Wrestlemania) begins shortly.  This makes a great pre-game show if you’re ordering TLC, something fun to listen to if you do that while refreshing front page coverage of the show, or even after the show just to hear some opinions about what’s next in the land of WWE.

Victor Sosa and Les Thatcher wrap up the week in wrestling with a look at WWE and TNA’s offerings from the week.  From there, we’ll touch on the spectacular bio in this week’s Observer on Killer Karl Kox and Les’s experiences with him.  Then we’ll spend a good amount of time discussing another member of this year’s NWA HOF class; Chief Wahoo McDaniel.  Among the stories you’ll hear on Wahoo: how he intimidated an NFL Hall of Famer, the night he shot Dick Slater, hanging out with baseball legend Mickey Mantle and golf champion Lee Trevino, and scaring the hell out of an entire hospital ward of doctors and nurses.  Les’ reflections on Wahoo are not to be missed!

Here’s hoping you didn’t get pepper sprayed on Black Friday and you’ve got enough turkey to last you a few more days!  Victor Sosa and Les Thatcher pulled themselves away from the leftovers long enough to discuss the perils of Black Friday shopping, CM Punk’s recent statements about Dwayne “Little Dewey” Johnson (you’ll have to listen to understand), Zack Ryder, TNA, their India project and how Les & JJ Dillon nearly did something similar a few years ago.  In addition, we talk old school wrestling during the holiday season, and spend some time talking about “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes!  There’s also great news on Doc Young and a sneak peek at next week’s show.  Thanks for spending part of your weekend with us!

  • Nov. 19 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly: WWE PPV Picks, NWA HOF discussion, Lunch with Nigel, more~!

With Will Strause on the road, Victor Sosa and Les Thatcher are back to make sure you’ve got plenty of audio for your weekend!  Frustration has set in around here with WWE & TNA, as you’ll clearly hear that Les is at a loss for words to describe what he’s seen in the past 7 days.  On a happier note, Les will tell us about his recent sit down with Nigel McGuinness, and some terrific stories about Pat O’Connor and Johnny Valentine; 2 legends who will soon be inducted into the NWA Hall of Fame.  By the way, if you venture over to our thread in the Radio Shows forum on THE BOARD, you can get some cool links to matches featuring those two gentlemen.  Since we won’t meet again until after the holiday, thanks for listening and have a Happy Thanksgiving!
