  • 8/14 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly: Mailbag on Flair, Booking Roman, Wrestlers on Commentary, more~!

Les and Vic return with an all mailbag edition of the show this week thanks to some great questions!  We’ll talk about Les working with the guys who made Mid Atlantic Wrestling so hot in the 70’s, Charlotte’s dream of main eventing Wrestlemania, promoters use of suggestive characters like Adorable Adrian Adonis, Golddust, Ricki Starr and others from days gone by, why most wrestlers have nothing to say when they’re put at the Raw announce table, any wrestler from any era Les would have liked to climb in the ring with and how Les would book Roman Reigns from this point forward if the goal is still to make him the face of the company.  Thanks for listening and have a great weekend~!

  • 7/24 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly: Hogan, Taker/Lesnar bigger picture, mailbag, much more~!

The actual quotes attributed to Hulk Hogan today were released while Les and I were recording this show, so we had not seen them nor did we reference the actual quotes on this show. We talked Hogan from the perspective of the perception issues WWE has having Hogan as such a big part of their history and now their rush to distance themselves from him.  We also talked about why Lesnar/Undertaker may move the needle in the short term, but there are tons of inherent problems with WWE that have not gotten a lot of mention this week that put them in the position of having to go with this program at this point.  We also answer your question on Tough Enough, what Les would do if he were running ROH and was faced with WWE trying to do them harm, how Les would book it if NJPW and WWE made a deal to exchange talent regularly and more.  Thanks for listening and have a great weekend~!

  • 7/17 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly: WWE/NJPW/ROH Triangle, Divas Debut, mailbag, more~!

This week’s show is GIANT SIZED to accomodate all the mailbag questions and the Battleground Prediction game.  Everyone wants to know what Les thought of the introduction of the new divas to the main roster; Les will give his thoughts on that and how he would’ve booked those debuts.  We’ll briefly touch upon Jushin Liger being added to the NXT Brooklyn show and while there’s no doubt WWE always wants to eliminate any competition, Vic will toss out a theory as to why WWE is throwing a monkey wrench into the New Japan/ROH relationship.  We’ll also answer your questions on Patrick from Tough Enough, the chances of a long term foreign NWA Champ in the territory era, cutting weight as a bodybuilder as opposed to a fighter, why wrestlers are loudly calling spots these days (which leads to a very educational sidebar discussion) and midget wrestling (which leads to a pretty funny sidebar discussion).  Thanks for listening and have a great weekend~!

  • 7/3 Doc Young’s Wrestling Weekly: Celebrating Les Thatcher’s 55th Anniversary in Wrestling, more~!

A special day on the show as July 4th marks Les’ 55th Anniversary in this wacky world of pro wrestling!  We’ll spend some time talking about that very first day & matches, then open up the mailbag to answer your questions about Harley Race, St. Louis wrestling, the Wednesday night wars, getting paid while you were off selling worked injuries, common “bad habits” Les sees during his training seminars and whether a promotion can ever be too far gone to salvage creatively.  There’s a bonus story about a very young Les Thatcher and why you should leave the fireworks to the professionals this weekend, too.  Thanks for listening and have a great weekend~!
