  • WWE Minneapolis, MN, live results: Charlotte suffers facial injury

Submitted by Erik Thibault from the Target Center

    – WWE has upgraded its live event entrance ramp since the last house in MPLS last spring. Two larger HD screens and a small ramp lined with LED lights.

    – Before the show started, The fans voted on a Wrestlemania match to be shown on the big screen. Bret Hart vs Austin won. Taker vs HBK second, Rock vs Cena third.

    – NXT ring announcers Greg Hamilton and Eden Stiles were our emcees.

A.J. Styles beat The Miz (12:50)

Loud A.J. Styles chants before the match. Miz got huge heat trying to take off his sunglasses after the bell rang. Miz did the Ric Flair fall-on-his-face bump at one point. Miz got the heat kicking the middle rope as A.J. was entering the ring. A.J. hit a nice pump handle into a gut buster for a near fall. Miz hit the Skull Crushing Finale but A.J. kicked out of the believable near fall. A.J. Hit the springboard flying forearm for the win. Really fun match. Miz was a great heel.

Darren Young & Jack Swagger beat Adam Rose & Curtis Axel (7:20)

Match was sloppy and crowd was dead for most of it, even with the hometown guy Curtis Axel. Heels worked over Darren Young. Swagger with the comeback. Hit the Swagger Bomb, match broke down and Swagger made Rose tap to ankle lock.

    – Bray Wyatt cut a spooky promo on the big screen. He said he was going to change the world, he wasn’t afraid of anyone and he was a god.

    Ryback beat Neville (8:30)

Ryback got a stronger reaction than Neville. Not necessarily a face reaction but more of a shocked reaction that this was Neville’s opponent. Crowd was chanting Feed Me More and Goldberg during the match. Ryback took most of the match. Neville hit a standing enziguri, a few strikes and the asai moonsault and that was about it for his offense. Neither man worked like a heel. Good finish. Ryback caught Neville after a springboard. Neville escaped and rolled Ryback up for a near fall. Ryback then hit the meat hook, which flipped Neville, and a shell shock for the win.

WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day beat the Usos (8:50)

Both teams got a huge reaction. New Day cut a pre-match promo saying Minnesota was poorly educated and everyone was ugly. They sang We Are The Champions…really badly. New Day’s antics are outrageous but are extremely entertaining. Let’s Go Usos/New Day Rocks dueling chants. Crowd really into the match. Kofi missed Trouble in Paradise and Jey Uso hit two superkicks. However, Xavier distracted the ref as the crowd counted to three. Kofi then hit Trouble In Paradise for the win. Really fun match with a hot finish.

Dean Ambrose beat Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens (c) via DQ (9:30)

Ambrose easily received the biggest pop of the night. Owens attacked Ambrose before the match started. Owens brought a chair into the ring and Ambrose rolled up Owens for what the crowd believed was the finish. Owens was trying to walk out for the count out finish but Ambrose brought him back. Owens had Ambrose in the tree of woe and wouldn’t break the five count for the disqualification. Crowd hated the finish. Owens announced himself as the champion and said “The Kevin Owens Show has just begun.” He went to pick up Ambrose but Ambrose hit Dirty Deeds for the huge pop.

Divas Champion Charlotte vs Becky Lynch went to a no-contest (5:32)

Charlotte did some Ric Flair spots such as the flip over the ropes in the corner, and Becky mocked the Ric Flair strut a time or two. Becky rolled Charlotte into the ring and hen everything stopped. The ref checked on Charlotte, Becky sat aside and doctors came to the ring. They stopped the match when Charlotte was busted open hard way. It looked like it was either when Becky charged Charlotte down the aisle and hit her or when Becky rolled her into the ring.

United States Champion Kalisto (c) beat Sheamus (roughly 13 minutes)

Sheamus stood on the middle rope in the corner for nearly a minute before the match to aggravate the crowd. They stalled a lot pre-match. Sheamus was bumping everywhere for Kalisto. Sheamus rammed Kalisto back first into the post for the heat. Kalisto hit a big moonsault during his comeback and kicked Sheamus square in the face. Ref put the gloves on. Sheamus hit White Noise from the middle rope for a near fall. Sheamus missed a Brogue Kick, Kalisto rolled to the apron, hung Sheamus on the top rope and hit the Salina del Sol for the CLEAN PIN. Crowd popped for the finish and I forgot to stop my timer because I was shocked Sheamus was pinned clean.

Kane beat Bray Wyatt in a street fight (13:10)

Kane received a solid pop and many fans stood for his entrance. 90 seconds into the match they brawled in the aisle. Kendo stick was introduced by Wyatt when Kane tried bringing him into the ring. Wyatt beat the hell out of Kane with the kendo stick but Kane whipped Wyatt pretty good when he took it away. Wyatt then brought a chair into the match DDTd Kane on the chair.

Kane went for a chokeslam, Wyatt hit a low blow and a slightly botched Sister Abigail but Kane kicked out. Wyatt kicked out of a chokeslam. Crowd chanted “Table Table Table” and Kane got one. Kane set up a table and choke slammed Wyatt for the clean pin. Crowd popped huge for the spot and most  instantly hit the exits. Show ended about 10:15 pm local.

Kane cut a promo afterward. “I’ve been in WWE for a long time. Minneapolis is still one of the greatest cities that we come to. Thanks for being such an awesome audience.”

  • Brock Lesnar vs. Bray Wyatt booked for WWE Roadblock

On this week’s edition of Smackdown that aired in Canada Wednesday and in the U.S. Thursday, WWE announced that Brock Lesnar will wrestle Bray Wyatt at the Network exclusive special on March 12th, emanating from Toronto, ON.

This was discussed in recent Wrestling Observer Newsletters and on Wednesday’s Wrestling Observer Radio.

This match was originally scheduled for this year’s WrestleMania, but Dean Ambrose was moved into the Wyatt spot prior to the Fastlane PPV. Wyatt does not have a WrestleMania opponent as of yet, but it’s expected that he and the rest of the Wyatt Family will compete in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

This follows an announcement Tuesday that Triple H will defend the WWE title in the main event of Roadblock. In addition, NXT Tag Team Champions The Revival (Dash Wilder/Scott Dawson) will defend those titles against Enzo Amore and Colin Cassidy in a match made official on Wednesday’s NXT broadcast.

Lesnar has been a fixture of these Network specials, competing against Kofi Kingston and Big Show on recent shows.

  • WWE books NXT tag title match for Roadblock Network special

On tonight’s episode of NXT on WWE Network, it was announced that NXT Tag Team Champions The Revival (Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder) will defend their titles against Enzo Amore & Big Cass on Saturday, March 12th at the Roadblock Network show from Toronto, Canada.

The match had been rumored for a few weeks, and would be the main roster major show debut for both teams. (Enzo and Cass have been appearing on WWE house shows recently.)

The two teams have wrestled numerous times and done a number of angles with the latest being a parking lot attack by Dash & Dawson that aired last week on NXT television. Dash and Dawson have held the titles since October when they beat the Vaudevillians to become the company’s eighth tag team champions.

The Roadblock show will be headlined by WWE Champion HHH vs. Dean Ambrose, and will be the company’s final major show before Wrestlemania weekend which also features a big Friday night NXT Takeover show in Dallas, TX.

  • Total Divastation: A Recap of WWE Total Divas episode 7

    By Kevin LaRose for WrestlingObserver.com

Neidhart makes fun of Nattie for saying “golly.” Ain’t gonna stop me now. Welcome to Total Divas.

Outside a live event in Baltimore, Nattie gives advice to a young girl.

Kevin traveled to be with Paige at the live events. Things aren’t going so great in their relationship. Kevin watches Paige’s match on the monitor, he looks miserable. Paige loses her match. They play Sasha Banks’ music as the cast goes to Corpus Christi. Kevin kisses Paige goodbye. Maybe next season we can get Banks on here so she can learn lessons, too. It might put her at a disadvantage if she can’t be put in the same position to learn the life lessons that the cast is learning on a weekly basis.

Nattie touches Naomi’s hair. A giant bouquet of flowers arrive. They’re for Brie from Bryan. Everybody awws that Bryan is so sweet. Then they make Brie feel bad for not getting him any presents. Everyone tells Brie that she has to buy Bryan more presents. Brie agrees.

    ***

The Bellas and Nattie check into a nice hotel. The Bellas asks Nattie why she hasn’t taken TJ’s name yet. She doesn’t want to. The Bellas giver her shit for not putting over the patriarchy.

Backstage now, Rosa is worried because she has to talk to Carrano. She wants to start doing backstage interviews. She asks Nattie if she can practice interviewing her. Rosa does a horrible job.

Nikki talks about her “Bellabration” on Raw. Nikki throws a cake on Fox and Brie. Brie and Fox walk around backstage covered in cake. Brie thinks they need to do more things like that. The other divas taste the cake.

Rosa talks to Carrano. Rosa does a horrible job. Carrano doesn’t think it’s a good idea.

Paige gets a text from Kevin. She’s feeling a ton of pressure. The one thing Paige hates is pressure. Paige goes to Jacksonville to hang out with Fox at her house. They go on social media and drink Starbucks together.

Bryan comes in and gives Brie a shirt that he and his niece made. Brie loves it. He cuts her off at the knees with a shot about how one of them “has to be romantic.” Brie says she’s romantic in the bedroom. Bryan laughs, and talks about how he likes foreplay and she just wants to get right to it. Bryan asks Brie what he got him for their Wedding, Christmas, and his birthday… All IOUs. Uh oh, Brie. Brie says she’s like the man in the relationship. Bryan agrees, if by the man she means the one who forgets everything. Bryan keeps laughing at her. This is passive aggressive and it is awkward to watch.

It’s now time for Night of Champions. Nikki has a big fight with Charlotte. Backstage, Nikki touches Rosa. Rosa is upset because she doesn’t have anything to do. Nikki tells her to do social media. Rosa thinks that is a great idea.

Nattie shows everyone her cat. Carrano comes and sits down with them. Fox asks Nattie why she hasn’t changed her name yet. Everyone starts arguing. Nattie doesn’t want to change. Titus come by and makes a joke.

Backstage, Renee Young and Nattie sing the Bellas’ theme song. Everyone talks about how important Nikki’s match is. Nikki taps out, and she is sad but proud of herself. Everyone cries. Nikki has to take time off now to heal.

Back in Florida, I am so excited because Nattie, TJ, and her parents are finally going to a restaurant. This one looks a little small, but there are pictures of cityscapes on the wall so you can rest assured that it’s hip. The walls are a green color, and the wood accents are a mahogany hue. Nattie brings up the vacation they are all going on. Everyone gives Nattie shit about not changing her name.

Paige is in a car with Kevin. Nothing happens.

In Phoenix, Brie and Nikki are at a glass object store. Nikki decides she’s going to set up a date night for the Brie and Bryan.

Back in Florida, in a car, Nattie and TJ are arguing about changing Nattie’s last name. Nattie keeps telling him the world has changed. Nattie worries about how emasculated TJ must feel.

Back in Phoenix, Brie is all dressed up which surprises Bryan. Bryan is now in a limo and he feels so strange in it. Bryan thinks he looks like a Hobbit in a suit. Bryan is not having a good time. Bryan tells her she doesn’t need to dress up for him. Brie thinks she is a romance failure. Bryan is not happy.

    ***

Now they are in Texas. Nattie is excited because she gets to wrestle Naomi. Rosa goes to talk to a man about social media. The dude says she might be able to do social media. Rosa is stoked. She tells Big Show the big news and he acts excited. Nattie is nervous to wrestle.

Back from commercial, Nattie is about to wrestle. The crowd chants for Nattie. They don’t show the ending, so I guess she lost.

Rosa is about do her first social media. Rosa does a horrible job. The crew is visibly upset. Heath Slater interrupts, and Rosa thinks she did a great job.

Fox and Paige both have flowers. Paige doesn’t want to go home. She doesn’t want to deal with Kevin. They argue all the time and they stopped having sex. Fox thinks Paige is being ridiculous. Paige and Fox have a flower fight.

Back in Florida, Nattie announces to everyone that she is going to change her name to Neidhart-Wilson. Everyone thinks it’s great but they give her shit anyway.

Back in Phoenix, Bryan is excited about how nice Brie looks. Brie tells him to go start the car. Bryan yells excitedly. She rented him a Tesla. Bryan is having such a great time. He looks so happy. She takes him to a farm and gives him a koala statue. Bryan is so happy.

  • WWE Smackdown spoilers: Dean Ambrose vs. Kevin Owens, AJ Styles vs. Kofi Kingston

From Atlanta, GA’s Philips Arena, taped for Wednesday in Canada and Thursday in the U.S.

Dean Ambrose opened the show sitting on a chair in the ring. He said that some people have five-year plans, but he has a five second plan. He said it sometimes gets him in trouble like when Brock Lesnar throws him through a windshield or HHH beats him down, but it sometimes works because he’s got a world title match. He wondered if he’d have to defend against Lesnar or HHH after he wins the title.

Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens came out and said he’s the IC champion and there are no contenders for him around. Owens insulted Ambrose and tried to attack him, but Ambrose nailed him with a chair.

    – Sheamus & Rusev beat The Usos when Sheamus pinned Jimmy after a Brogue kick. After the match, the Dudleys came out and attacked the Usos. The Dudleys had a table but refused to use it.

    – Dolph Ziggler beat The Miz for revenge for Raw.

    – R-Truth was at catering. He apologized for how he’s been treating Goldust and said he would be his partner. Goldust refused and threw food in his face.

    – Sasha Banks DDQ Becky Lynch when Charlotte attacked both of them.

    – WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day did a promo building up their match with A.J. Styles & Chris Jericho on Raw on Monday.

    – A.J. Styles beat Kofi Kingston

    – Dean Ambrose beat I-C Champion Kevin Owens in a non-title match with the Dirty Deeds.

  • Shane McMahon helps ratings stay strong for WWE RAW

Raw held up from last week’s stronger than usual numbers and remained the most watched show on cable last night.

WrestleMania season and the buzz from last week’s return of Shane McMahon led to a strong first hour.  There was a second hour drop, but the third hour, with the promise of revealing i HHH would face Dean Ambrose for the WWE title, was the second largest third hour since August, with very little drop from hour two. What’s notable is the third hour went 74 minutes, and usually a long overrun can hurt ratings because people don’t stay for the duration.

Raw did 3.71 million viewers, down just four percent from last weeks show which came the day after Fast Lane.

    The three hours were:

    8 p.m. 3.95 million viewers
    9 p.m. 3.66 million viewers
    10 p.m. 3.55 million viewers

The second most watched show was the O’Reilly Factor on Fox News which did 3.56 million viewers.

  • Undertaker, Daniel Bryan join WWE’s post-Wrestlemania European tours

In an effort to increase the star power of the April post-WrestleMania tours of Europe, WWE announced that the recently-retired Daniel Bryan and The Undertaker would be heading to each be part of one leg.

It had already been announced that there would be a Daniel Bryan Appreciation Night in London, one of many such events happening in the months ahead, one of which is happening at NYC’s Madison Square Garden on March 25th.

While that will be a big draw on one tour, Shane McMahon’s opponent for Wrestlemania has been added for the other tour, actually wrestling on the shows. No opponent has been announced yet.

Previously, the two tours were announced as being headlined by Roman Reigns vs. Sheamus on one tour and I-C champion Kevin Owens vs. Dean Ambrose on the other tour. Crowd was pretty dead for this match who didn’t know who Corbin was. Corbin won with End of Days.

    – Sin Cara vs. Stardust

Good pop for both, good match. Crowd really into chanting “Cody”. Sin Cara went over.

    – R-Truth vs. Adam Rose

    – Sheamus vs. Mark Henry

    Sheamus wins.

    – Dean Ambrose vs. I-C Champion Kevin Owens

Ambrose wins via DQ I think for refusing to stop kicking Ambrose in the corner? Owens gets on mic, downtalks Evansville and a kid with a sign that said “sux” instead of “sucks”. Ambrose hits the dirty deeds. Crowd goes home happy.

Overall, it was a good, solid house show. Ambrose and Owens by far the most over people all night.

  • WWE, Evolve, and WWN’s relationship continues to develop

On Monday, the relationship between WWE, WWN, and Evolve Wrestling continued to develop as WWN announced that NXT General Manager William Regal will appear at Evolve’s next two shows in New York.

He will be available for pictures and autographs at both the March 19th event in Queens, NY, and the following night in Brooklyn. Regal will have an undisclosed role at both shows as well.

Regal first made an appearance at the Evolve 54 show in Orlando, held the same weekend as the Royal Rumble, where he helped set up the Evolve title match between Timothy Thatcher and former UFC fighter Matt Riddle, who WWE is said to be interested in. It’s fair to assume that Regal would be looking at talent for the Global Cruiserweight series scheduled to take place on the WWE Network this summer.

WWN also announced that a WWE representative will be on hand at the WWN Seminar/Tryout on March 31st in Dallas in conjunction with WrestleCon. The group will also be running three shows that weekend.
