  • WWE Minneapolis, MN, live results: Charlotte suffers facial injury

    – WWE has upgraded its live event entrance ramp since the last house in MPLS last spring. Two larger HD screens and a small ramp lined with LED lights. 

    – Before the show started, The fans voted on a Wrestlemania match to be shown on the big screen. Bret Hart vs Austin won. Taker vs HBK second, Rock vs Cena third.

    – NXT ring announcers Greg Hamilton and Eden Stiles were our emcees.

    A.J. Styles beat The Miz (12:50)

    Loud A.J. Styles chants before the match. Miz got huge heat trying to take off his sunglasses after the bell rang. Miz did the Ric Flair fall-on-his-face bump at one point. Miz got the heat kicking the middle rope as A.J. was entering the ring. A.J. hit a nice pump handle into a gut buster for a near fall. Miz hit the Skull Crushing Finale but A.J. kicked out of the believable near fall. A.J. Hit the springboard flying forearm for the win. Really fun match. Miz was a great heel.

    Darren Young & Jack Swagger beat Adam Rose & Curtis Axel (7:20)

    Match was sloppy and crowd was dead for most of it, even with the hometown guy Curtis Axel. Heels worked over Darren Young. Swagger with the comeback. Hit the Swagger Bomb, match broke down and Swagger made Rose tap to ankle lock. 

    – Bray Wyatt cut a spooky promo on the big screen. He said he was going to change the world, he wasn’t afraid of anyone and he was a god. 

    Ryback beat Neville (8:30)

    Ryback got a stronger reaction than Neville. Not necessarily a face reaction but more of a shocked reaction that this was Neville’s opponent. Crowd was chanting Feed Me More and Goldberg during the match. Ryback took most of the match. Neville hit a standing enziguri, a few strikes and the asai moonsault and that was about it for his offense. Neither man worked like a heel. Good finish. Ryback caught Neville after a springboard. Neville escaped and rolled Ryback up for a near fall. Ryback then hit the meat hook, which flipped Neville, and a shell shock for the win. 

    WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day beat the Usos (8:50)

    Both teams got a huge reaction. New Day cut a pre-match promo saying Minnesota was poorly educated and everyone was ugly. They sang We Are The Champions…really badly. New Day’s antics are outrageous but are extremely entertaining. Let’s Go Usos/New Day Rocks dueling chants. Crowd really into the match. Kofi missed Trouble in Paradise and Jey Uso hit two superkicks. However, Xavier distracted the ref as the crowd counted to three. Kofi then hit Trouble In Paradise for the win. Really fun match with a hot finish.

    Dean Ambrose beat Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens (c) via DQ (9:30)

    Ambrose easily received the biggest pop of the night. Owens attacked Ambrose before the match started. Owens brought a chair into the ring and Ambrose rolled up Owens for what the crowd believed was the finish. Owens was trying to walk out for the count out finish but Ambrose brought him back. Owens had Ambrose in the tree of woe and wouldn’t break the five count for the disqualification. Crowd hated the finish. Owens announced himself as the champion and said “The Kevin Owens Show has just begun.” He went to pick up Ambrose but Ambrose hit Dirty Deeds for the huge pop.

    Divas Champion Charlotte vs Becky Lynch went to a no-contest (5:32)

    Charlotte did some Ric Flair spots such as the flip over the ropes in the corner, and Becky mocked the Ric Flair strut a time or two. Becky rolled Charlotte into the ring and hen everything stopped. The ref checked on Charlotte, Becky sat aside and doctors came to the ring. They stopped the match when Charlotte was busted open hard way. It looked like it was either when Becky charged Charlotte down the aisle and hit her or when Becky rolled her into the ring.

    United States Champion Kalisto (c) beat Sheamus (roughly 13 minutes)

    Sheamus stood on the middle rope in the corner for nearly a minute before the match to aggravate the crowd. They stalled a lot pre-match. Sheamus was bumping everywhere for Kalisto. Sheamus rammed Kalisto back first into the post for the heat. Kalisto hit a big moonsault during his comeback and kicked Sheamus square in the face. Ref put the gloves on. Sheamus hit White Noise from the middle rope for a near fall. Sheamus missed a Brogue Kick, Kalisto rolled to the apron, hung Sheamus on the top rope and hit the Salina del Sol for the CLEAN PIN. Crowd popped for the finish and I forgot to stop my timer because I was shocked Sheamus was pinned clean.

    Kane beat Bray Wyatt in a street fight (13:10)

    Kane received a solid pop and many fans stood for his entrance. 90 seconds into the match they brawled in the aisle. Kendo stick was introduced by Wyatt when Kane tried bringing him into the ring. Wyatt beat the hell out of Kane with the kendo stick but Kane whipped Wyatt pretty good when he took it away. Wyatt then brought a chair into the match DDTd Kane on the chair.

    Kane went for a chokeslam, Wyatt hit a low blow and a slightly botched Sister Abigail but Kane kicked out. Wyatt kicked out of a chokeslam. Crowd chanted “Table Table Table” and Kane got one. Kane set up a table and choke slammed Wyatt for the clean pin. Crowd popped huge for the spot and most  instantly hit the exits. Show ended about 10:15 pm local.

    Kane cut a promo afterward. “I’ve been in WWE for a long time. Minneapolis is still one of the greatest cities that we come to. Thanks for being such an awesome audience.” 

  • NXT Columbus, OH, live results: Finn Balor vs. Samoa Joe; Bayley vs. Emma

    I’m here at the Arnold Classic for the NXT show in Columbus, Ohio tonight in front of a sold-out house. 

    Asuka beat Alexa Bliss 

    Big reaction for Asuka and also a good one for the hometown girl Bliss. This was all Asuka, nailing the Yes Kicks and finally applying the Asuka Lock for the submission.

    Johnny Gargano and Tomaso Ciampa beat The Vaudevillains

    The Vaudevillains were obviously the heels tonight. There was a lot of ‘Johnny Wrestling’ chants and the match built to a hot tag. The big finish saw Johnny as the legal man get the pin after double low angle superkicks on Gotch.

    Apollo Crews beat Tye Dillinger 

    Dillinger’s first match back from injury got a great reaction then he did some heel mic work pre match to give Apollo a big entrance. Very good match including NXT chants from the crowd. Big Apollo Slam for the win.

    Eva Marie and Nia Jax beat Billie Kay and Peyton Royce 

    Major heat on Eva. Nia hit a big Samoan Drop and allowed Eva to get the pin. 

    Sami Zayn beat Baron Corbin 

    Great reactions for both in their own ways as Baron soaks in the booos and Sami is beloved. Slow start to the match with Baron winning a test of strength, then hitting some great looking punches with Sami just making the count of ten. Big fired up comeback by Zayn including a dive off the entrance way a blue thunder bomb and after nearly connecting once before, hits the Helluva Kick for the win. 

    GM William Regal welcomes us back from intermission and speaks highly of the roster. An NXT chant leads to him giving us what we want, more NXT action. 

    NXT Tag Team Champions The Revival beat American Alpha 

    Excellent match. The heels used the ring and worked the ref to keep Gable isolated until the big hot tag to Jordan. As per usual, Jason Jordan has the best hot tag in wrestling. The straps came down, then went back up, then back down. That’s how wild he ran. Suplexes, dropkicks, backdrops. Alpha had Revival set up for the German yet Dash held Jordan’s feet, then pulled Jordan out of the ring and held Gable’s feet during a sit out pin by Dawson to steal the win. Post match, we had “Yay – Booo” spots when the champs and challengers lifted their arms. 

    NXT Women’s Champion Bayley beat Emma 

    Superstar reaction for Bayley. Emma got a lot of punishment in early and the crowd just chanted and sang for Bayley. Good action here with Bayley firing up after refusing to feel the pain of being rammed in to the turn buckle padding. Belly To Bayley for the win. 

    NXT Champion Finn Balor beat Samoa Joe 

    Huge reactions for both men, dueling chants at times. Finn took a lot of punishment from the big man. These two always work great together. Finn hit the running dropkick and the Bloody Sunday ddt for the win. No top rope stomp tonight. Post match, Finn celebrated with the crowd and put up the gun sign.

  • WWE Smackdown spoilers: Dean Ambrose vs. Kevin Owens, AJ Styles vs. Kofi Kingston

    From Atlanta, GA’s Philips Arena, taped for Wednesday in Canada and Thursday in the U.S.

    Dean Ambrose opened the show sitting on a chair in the ring. He said that some people have five-year plans, but he has a five second plan. He said it sometimes gets him in trouble like when Brock Lesnar throws him through a windshield or HHH beats him down, but it sometimes works because he’s got a world title match. He wondered if he’d have to defend against Lesnar or HHH after he wins the title.

    Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens came out and said he’s the IC champion and there are no contenders for him around. Owens insulted Ambrose and tried to attack him, but Ambrose nailed him with a chair.

    – Sheamus & Rusev beat The Usos when Sheamus pinned Jimmy after a Brogue kick. After the match, the Dudleys came out and attacked the Usos. The Dudleys had a table but refused to use it.

    – Dolph Ziggler beat The Miz for revenge for Raw.

    – R-Truth was at catering. He apologized for how he’s been treating Goldust and said he would be his partner. Goldust refused and threw food in his face.

    – Sasha Banks DDQ Becky Lynch when Charlotte attacked both of them.

    – WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day did a promo building up their match with A.J. Styles & Chris Jericho on Raw on Monday.

    – A.J. Styles beat Kofi Kingston

    – Dean Ambrose beat I-C Champion Kevin Owens in a non-title match with the Dirty Deeds.

  • WWE Evansville, IN, live results: Dean, Kevin, Kalisto, and AJ

    – Tyler Breeze vs. AJ Styles

    Big pop for AJ who won with the calf crusher. 

    – Baron Corbin vs. Zack Ryder

    Crowd was pretty dead for this match who didn’t know who Corbin was. Corbin won with End of Days. 

    – Sin Cara vs. Stardust

    Good pop for both, good match. Crowd really into chanting “Cody”. Sin Cara went over. 

    – R-Truth vs. Adam Rose

    R-Truth wins with help from Goldust. 

    – Alberto Del Rio vs. U.S. Champion Kalisto

    Good match. Kalisto wins. Crowd really into the match. 

    – Team B.A.D. vs. Summer Rae and Sasha Banks

    Summer and Sasha win. Crowd into Sasha. “We want Sasha ” chants throughout match. 

    – Sheamus vs. Mark Henry

    Sheamus wins. 

    – Dean Ambrose vs. I-C Champion Kevin Owens

    Ambrose wins via DQ I think for refusing to stop kicking Ambrose in the corner? Owens gets on mic, downtalks Evansville and a kid with a sign that said “sux” instead of “sucks”. Ambrose hits the dirty deeds. Crowd goes home happy. 

    Overall, it was a good, solid house show. Ambrose and Owens by far the most over people all night. 

  • WWE Louisville live results: Kevin Owens vs. Dean Ambrose; AJ Styles vs. Tyler Breeze

    – AJ Styles d. Tyler Breeze via Calf Crusher

    – Baron Corbin d. Zack Ryder via End of Days

    – Sin Cara d. Stardust

    There were loud, lengthy “Cody” chants, which Stardust acknowledged on the house mic, saying, “It’s not Cody. It’s Stardust.”

    – R-Truth d. Curtis Axel w/ Adam Rose

    Goldust saved R-Truth from a two-on-one situation and they teased Golden Truth’s formation with a “maybe” from R-Truth, the two dancing together, the two going backstage
    together, etc. It’s also worth mentioning that Axel appears to have gotten busted open near the finish as there were drops of blood outside of the ring where he fell near the finish, which I’m pretty sure WWE’s social media manager inadvertently mopped up with his pants while filming the Truth & Goldust mic work from his cell phone.

    – US Champion Kalisto d. Alberto Del Rio to retain

    The finish involved a turnbuckle that ADR exposed, which backfired on him.

    – Sasha Banks & Summer Rae d. Naomi & Tamina

    Sasha played Ricky Morton during the majority of the match but somewhat telegraphed when the false tags were by not grabbing the tag rope consistently.

    – Sheamus d. Mark Henry

    Before the match, Sheamus cut a promo, offering not to embarrass Mark in front of a Louisville crowd who remembers his OVW days. Mark balked, Sheamus kept true to his word, and got the victory. Sheamus also did a strange rolling maneuver going up the aisle, which seemed planned.

    – Dean Ambrose d. I-C Champion Kevin Owens via DQ

    Owens was pummeling Ambrose in the corner and wouldn’t stop when the ref demanded that he break. Owens got on the mic and basically said that DQ was a ridiculous finish and he was going to show the crowd why he is the greatest IC Champion and WWE Superstar of all-time.

    When Owens went to lift Ambrose off of the ground, presumably for a Pop-up Powerbomb, Ambrose countered into Dirty Deeds. It’s also worth mentioning that they teased Del Rio’s turnbuckle pad removal spot from earlier in the night but the ref caught it before it could be completely removed.  Once Dean got out of the ring, he posed for numerous selfies with ringside fans.

    Overall, it was a solid show.  I believe that the only three who were advertised locally to appear but did not were Paige, Natalya, & Dolph Ziggler. The top most section of the KFC Yum! Center was curtained off, which was likely a planned aspect of the ring configuration to begin with.

  • WWE Youngstown, NY live results: Roman Reigns vs. Sheamus streetfight

    Tyler Breeze vs. Dolph Ziggler

    Slow paced for much of first half picked up in second half after close to 20 min of ring time.  Ziggler wins via pin after hitting zig zag.

    WWE Tag Champions The New Day vs. The Dudley Boyz vs. The Usos.

    The New Day retains via pin after Dudleyz hit 3D on an Uso and clear Dudleyz of the ring. Pretty solid 11+ min match.

    Rusev w/Lana vs. Neville

    Lana cuts pre-match promo of basically nothing. Nothing special here. Rusev wins via submission with the accolade after 9 mins.

    The Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt ringside) vs. Big Show, Ryback, & Kane 

    Big Show gets big pop after a hot tag. Ryback, Kane, and Big Show win via pin after Big Show choke slam on Erick Rowan. Luke Harper walked off to back right before end of match. Possible injury? Could be nothing.

    Team B.A.D. vs. Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks with special guest referee Alicia Fox

    Sasha and Becky win via submission after Naomi taps out to banks statement. Solid 8 min match. Good ring work from Sasha here.

    I-C Champion Kevin Owens vs. Dean Ambrose

    Ambrose gets biggest pop of night so far. Ambrose wins by DQ after chair shot after 11 mins. Owens retains. Owens cuts promo about “losers from Ohio” and Ambrose hits Dirty Deeds to send Owens packing.

    Street fight: Sheamus vs. Roman Reigns

    Big pop for Reigns though not sure it beat out Ambrose (because Ambrose from Ohio possibly?). Kendo stick, chair, and tables involved. Each man goes through table. Reigns wins via pin after spearing Sheamus through table. Good 23+ min
    match. 

  • WWE Bremen, Germany results: Roman Reigns vs. Alberto del Rio

    – The Usos (Jimmy Uso & Jey Uso) & The Big Show defeated The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods).

    – Cesaro was in the ring. He announced tonight’s main event: Roman Reigns vs. Alberto Del Rio in a street fight.

    – Jack Swagger defeated Tyler Breeze

    – WWE Divas Champion Charlotte (w/ Ric Flair) defeated Paige. Summer Rae was the special refereee and was very one-sided. Once Paige tried to cover Charlotte, Summer didn’t count because her hand was “hurting”.

    – WWE Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose def. Kevin Owens

    – Goldust defeated Bo Dallas in 10 seconds. Dallas protests after the match, challenges anyone in the back to a match. R-Truth answers. (By the way, this is exactly what happened last November during the European Tour).

    – R-Truth defeated Bo Dallas in five seconds

    – Dolph Ziggler def. Rusev (w/ Lana). During the match, Rusev started a “Scheiß HSV”-chant which means “sh*tty HSV”. HSV is a German soccer club from Hamburg.

    – Roman Reigns defeated Alberto Del Rio in a street fight.

  • WWE Abbotsford, BC, results: Roman Reigns vs. Alberto Del Rio

    Enzo Amore and Big Cass (with Carmella) against The Ascension

    • Fans did not really know Enzo’s pre-match spiel, pretty silent during their intro aside from the SAWFT line by Cass
    • Pretty decent match between the four but I dont think many people knew who Amore and Cass were. The heels get the heat on Enzo and he eventually makes the hot tag to Cass.
    • Finish sees Amore hit a splash onto Viktor for the win

    Miz vs. AJ Styles

    • Major heat for Miz, who got on the mic and complained about Styles breaking his tooth earlier this week
    • Styles comes out to a massive pop and before they lock up there are huge “AJ Styles” chants and a light “this is awesome” chant
    • Pretty good stuff here, with Miz hitting the skull crushing finale and Styles kicking out. Styles teased the Clash but Miz broke out. Finish saw Styles lock in the calf slicer for the win

    Rusev vs. Axel

    • Lana works the crowd by bashing Abbotsford and saying how everyone should be so grateful to see herself and Rusev. This brings out Axel (by himself) to not much reaction
    • Axel says he will kick Rusev’s ass and then have Lana to himself and shakes his hips like Rick Rude
    • Short match follows, with Lana distracting Axel and it leading to a superkick and accolade.
    • Rusev then gets on the mic again and asks for competition. This brings out Jack Swagger and another short match that sees Swagger roll up Rusev in a few minutes

    New Day vs. Usos/Ryback

    • Huge reaction for New Day, who came out first and then had to return to the back because their smoke pyro didnt go off. Light boos for the Usos but Ryback was over. He’s wearing new tights that say “Big Guy” and now wrestles wearing a weight belt.
    • Fun match follows, with Ryback eventually catching Woods and hitting the shell shock on him

    Lucha Dragons vs. Los Matadores

    • Dragons come out to a decent reaction, while the Matadores come out to crickets. They then establish themselves as heels by taking a Lucha Dragons shirt and wiping their nose/underarm and ass with it.
    • Pretty pedestrian match, with the finish seeing Sin Cara hit one of the Matadores with a swanton

    Charlotte vs. Becky Lynch

    • Both girls got decent reactions, and the match had some decent spots, including Lynch apply an armbar to Charlotte, who turned it into a powerbomb.
    • Lynch reversed the figure eight but moments later Charlotte rolled her up with the tights to win

    Main Event: Roman Reigns vs. Alberto Del Rio

    • Del Rio was over, and was interacting a lot with the crowd. He was behaving like a face to the males over 13. Good reaction for Reigns, with kids and women behind him
    • Solid match, but a little long. Reigns eventually goes over after fighting out of the armbar twice. Reigns hits a spear to win.

  • WWE Macon, GA, live results: Roman Reigns super over versus Rusev

    I just got back from the house show tonight in Macon, Georgia. It was a pretty damn good show. Overall, the crowd was pretty non-smarky, very old-school when it came to heel/face alignments.

    WWE Tag Team Champions New Day vs. Usos & Ryback

    The New Day, with the first second generation trombone in WWE history opened the show. Unfortunately, they didn’t open the door until 7:15 for a 7:30 show, so most of the crowd was still coming in when they came out. A lot of “NEW DAY SUCKS” chants got going. The finish came when Ryback hit the Shellshock on Xavier Woods and tagged in Jey Uso for the top rope splash. Overall it was a very good match to start with a lot of back and forth action.

    Stardust vs. Titus O’Neil

    Stardust is incredibly charismatic. Fun fact, the Macon Centreplex where the event took place is where Cody Rhodes won some big high school wrestling championship, maybe even the state championship, I didn’t hear the people beside me clearly. Cody came out first and after he finished humping a security guard’s face, he got int he ring and laid down with his chin on his knuckles. When he heard Titus’ music, he just went limp and looked incredibly defeated. That was exactly what happened. Titus pretty much squashed Stardust. Crowd had a lot of “CODY” chants and cheered Titus, although it was a very generic face cheer out of obligation.

    – Kevin Owens promo: Good quick promo by KO. He pointed out that he had wrestled in Macon before, and hated the city. He said he was going to win back his Intercontinental Championship and and get the hell out of the city.

    Los Matadors vs. Hype Bros

    The Hype Bros were not advertised, so this was a surprise. Honestly, the Hype Bros music is so freaking loud it was hard to gauge the reaction, but I was marking out. Mojo is a freak of nature and is charismatic. Ryder seemed bored. He did his stuff, and did most of the ring work, but Mojo was the real star. Hype Bros quickly won and Mojo was amazing, taking photographs at ringside with all the fans. Seemed like an awesome dude, and I can’t wait to see what he does in WWE.

    Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose vs. Kevin Owens

    Dean was over with the crowd and the crowd hated Kevin Owens. This match was glorious. These two are so amazing in the ring. After some good back and forth, KO hit the pop-up powerbomb, but Dean kicked out. After that, they had some more back and forth until Dean pulled off the Dirty Deed for the pinfall. Dean Ambrose is a class act. As soon as the match was over, he walked around taking selfies and ringside with the fans and signed a ton of autographs. Dean was OVER with the crowd. I’d say his reaction was #3 of the night.

    Social Outcasts vs. R-Truth & Sandizzle

    Heath Slater and Curtis Axel came out after a quick intermission to pimp autographed merchandise and Wrestlemania. Curtis Axel cut a pretty cool promo about being sick because he ate Bacon…in Macon…He went back and forth with Slater about Macon Bacon, Macon food, Macon in general, and then culminated it by saying it wasn’t the food that made him sick, it was the people. R-Truth was out next to say WHAT’S UP and get the crowd up and going again after the break. His partner, Damien Sandow, worked as Sandizzle, wearing sunglasses and a black doo-rag. I guess Golden Truth is still on the way. Sandizzle used WHOMP THERE IT IS as his catchphrase. He wrestled in his sunglasses the whole match, which was pretty funny. After a lot of crowd hype, and a Bo run around the ring from hashtag Social Outcasts (sans Bo), R-Truth and Sandizzle got the victory.

    – Rusev Promo: Rusev cut a promo from the back stating that when this match was booked, Reigns was the champion, but he robbed him of it at Royal Rumble by putting him through a table. He put over Lana as beautiful, hot, etc.

    Divas Champion Charlotte vs. Becky Lynch vs. Paige

    I will say this…. Becky Lynch was OVER! I don’t mean kind of over. I mean, she was #2 pop of the night, and that was constant through the match. The crowd loved her. Paige worked as a face. At this point, she’s reaching Big Show levels of face/heel turns. Charlotte is pretty damn big in real life. I was surprised by how amazing she looked in person compared to how she looks on television. Paige pushed her “THIS IS MY HOUSE” which got a big reaction since she was working as a face. For a triple threat, they didn’t do much with that aspect. Charlotte got a figure four headlock on Becky and it just dragged on for way too long. Most of the time, one diva was outside of the ring recovering. While Becky was out of the ring, Paige locked in the PTO. Becky got back in and broke it up. Becky slapped on the Disarmer and the crowd went crazy, but Paige broke it up. Becky was out of the ring and Charlotte rolled Paige up with tights for the pin. BECKY. WAS. OVER. It was magical. After the match, Paige pulled Becky into the ring and told the crowd it was her birthday. Paige sang Happy Birthday to her with the crowd. Great moment. I uploaded a video of it, but potato quality, so sadface.

    Roman Reigns vs. Rusev

    Man, the place came UNGLUED when Roman came through the crowd. Easily pop #1 by an incredible margin. He got a quick upper hand and then Rusev walked out on the match. He took a microphone and said that since Roman was no longer champion, and it wasn’t a championship match, he was done. Roman ran up the stage and brought him back. Crowd loved that. Roman and Rusev went back and forth until Rusev got the Accolade on. (Remember when that move was incredible?) Roman quickly powered out, got the superman punch, got the spear, and it was over.

    This is officially the young lions’ last match before they go to CMLL on their excursion. Nice action from both teams. Pretty quick match with Panther submitting Komatsu with a high angle armbar. Komatsu grabbed a microphone after the match. He promised that they would come back as stars. Tanaka said he had the time of his life as a young lion, and promises to come back stronger than ever.

    Tiger Mask, Fuego, Kushida and Stuka Jr. vs. Yoshi-Hashi, Okumura, Hechicero and Bobby Z

    Stuka and Kushida brought in girls to dance with them and Fuego while Tiger Mask stood in the distance unamused, I guess because he’s a stick in the mud. Good six man tag with some decent heat. Okumura’s manager Mima Shimoda kept getting involved. The faces wasted no time in laying her out every time she came into the ring. That’s certainly something to see in professional wrestling in 2015. Stuka Jr. won with the torpedo on Okumura and Shimoda.

    Virus vs. Jushin Thunder Liger

    This was very much a mat wrestling match as both exchanged holds back and forth. These kind of straight up technical matches you don’t see too often, so it’s pretty fun to watch. Virus went for a sharpshooter but Liger reversed it, took him back down and somehow transitioned into a pendulum swing (or the campanara for the submission. Haven’t seen Liger use that move before, but it worked here in the context of the match. It didn’t last too long, but the mat wrestling was good while it lasted.

    Ryusuke Taguchi, Atlantis and Mascara Dorada and vs. Tetsuya Naito, Bushi and Evil

    This is also Mascara Dorada’s last match as a full time NJPW wrestler as he’s heading back to CMLL. This time when someone removed Taguchi’s pharaoh mask he had his eyes painted like Evil’s, which he didn’t take too kindly to. Solid match, just your typical six man here with some cool dives here and there. Dorada hit a great looking Asai moonsault to the floor, wiping out everyone. Dorada countered Bushi’s codebreaker and went for the Dorada screwdriver but he escaped. Naito came back to the ring and low blowed Dorada, allowing Bushi to get the win with a bridging pin.

    Naito faked an injury, so Komatsu came in and gave him ice. Naito put the Ingobernables hat on him and teased like he was a new member, but it was a swerve and laid him out with a clothesline. That was a payoff to what had been going down in the last month with Naito being nice to Komatsu before and after matches.

    Kazuchika Okada, Shinsuke Nakamura and Barbaro Cavernario vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi, Juice Robinson and Titan

    The latter team came out in their outfits from Saturday morning, but this time Cavernario had a wheel painted in his back. Okada had a skull mask similar to Nakamuras but was gold colored. Really good six man with, again, lots of crazy dives. Robinson, Titan, Robinson and Tanahashi all did stereo planchas on the outside. Titan did a awesome moonsault from the top rope that took out Nakamura. Robinson threw Cavernario out to the floor but Okada did his comeback and pinned Robinson with the rainmaker.

    Hirooki Goto appeared immediately after the bell had rang and laid out Okada, Gedo, Titan – pretty much everyone in his path. He laid out Okada with his reverse neckbreaker on the leg and promptly made his exit. Goto’s kind of had a loose cannon like gimmick attacking Okada at every opportunity.

    CMLL Lightweight Champion Dragon Lee vs. Kamaitachi

    Incredible match, easily blows everything from the last two days out of the water. Just a series of incredible moves and counters that has to be seen to be believed. Lee did a great running rana from the ring, over the ropes and to the floor. Lee did a double footstomp that sent them both to the floor. Lee went for another, this time facing the ring but Kamaitachi avoided him and ended up doing a dropkick that sent Lee to the floor. Kamaitachi followed with a big senton off the top rope that was absolutely crazy. Sinked in a figure four but Lee grabbed the ropes. He had been grabbing his knees during some of the match. Just a ton of flashy, awesome back and forth counters. Crazy nearfalls by Dragon Lee including another double foot stomp and a cradle German suplex. They traded moves back and forth. Awesome heat from the audience. Lee went for a powerbomb but Kamaitachi somehow floated over him and countered with a Canadian destroyer for an incredible finish to win the title.

    Mistico vs. Ultimo Guerrero

    This was slightly hard to get into at first after the previous match, but these guys had a very good match that the crowd did get into. They did their same routine from the last few days where Mistico and Guerrero would fight over who got the bigger reaction. Mistico did a lot of great high flying and Guerrero looked good in doing big power spots and keeping him grounded. He powerbombed Mistico off the middle rope, for example. Guerrero hit a top rope reverse suplex for a nearfall but Mistico kicked out. Mistico came back and sank in la mistica and got the submission.

    CMLL Welterweight Champion Volador Jr. vs. Mephisto

    I saw most of this match, excluding the last couple of minutes as the stream completely died. From what I saw, this was a decent match but not as good as the two prior matches and the crowd wasn’t as into it. Still, they worked hard and had a good match. Volador came to the ring wearing pain inspired by Venom from the Spider Man universe. Basic lucha match. Mephisto did some cool dives, as did Volador Jr. There was a cool spot at one point where Mephisto slid under Volador, and he responded by dishing out a moonsault. Volador kicked out of the double underhook facebuster that had him pinned the previous night. I didn’t catch all of the finish as the stream completely died, but Volador retained with a top rope spanish fly.

    Everyone came to the ring after the match and posed for cameras. Volador thanked the crowd and said they’d hope to see them again next year.

    All three of these shows were pretty fun to watch. Definitely check out Dragon Lee/Kamaitachi as that’s a match that needs to be seen.
