October 22 2006 Bryan and Vinny Show
BRYAN AND VINNY SUPERSHOW TIME~! This is, I believe, the longest show in the history of the Empire. Besides Admin Tony, we’re joined by Sprewell Rimz from the BOARD~! to discuss the PRIDE Vegas show (Sprewell was there live last night). All the matches in detail, off-air occurrences, thoughts on the 20-minute intermission and Coleman’s post-fight bloody celebration with his children, and more. We’ll also discuss Ultimate Fighter (with Tony), which featured Shonie Carter vs. Matt Serra in the big rematch; ECW which featured the RVD vs. Big Show match to set up RVD’s title shot; TNA with Kurt Angle’s debut, including what was good and bad about it; Smackdown with the I Quit Match, Batista vs. Big Dave, and KRYSTAL~!; and even a Dancing with the Stars update with Granny. Over an hour and 50 minutes of pro-wrestling and MMA talk, and that’s just the start of our weekend as we’ll be back later tonight with the TNA post-PPV recap. Larry Matysik of St. Louis Wrestling returns today for a one-hour discussion on pro-wrestling — and MMA — past, present and future. I originally booked Larry because he made a comment that the Tito Ortiz vs. Ken Shamrock program was booked almost exactly like they used to book programs for Sam Muchnick’s territory in the 60s, 70s and early 80s. We’ll discuss that, plus a number of other subjects including: how pro-wrestling has evolved and seems to be evolving; the Bruiser Brody book that is currently being edited; some funny Bruiser stories; a potential St. Louis Wrestling Hall of Fame; the return of Vince Russo as a booker; his thoughts on Angle’s return; the 1982 Ric Flair/Gene Kiniski/Dick the Bruiser program that had remarkable similarities to Tito vs. Ken; run-ins and screwjobs in pro-wrestling and why they’re no longer effective; and TONS more. Plus we’ve got a news update looking at the finalized line-up for the PRIDE PPV in Las Vegas tomorrow. A packed show!

We’ll discuss our match for New Revolution Wrestling last Friday (and check it out if you’re in the Gresham, OR area as Buddy returns tomorrow), including thoughts on the horrible ring; why indy wresting in Oregon is so great; Buddy’s memories of Joey Maggs and Brian Pillman, both of whom he worked with; the rib Pillman played on the locker room one afternoon; his weirdest payoff (hint – a gram of coke) and the circumstances surrounding that one; the time he broke the ring with Playboy Buddy Rose (including audio of the incident); why wrestlers have historically had such bad fashion sense; and tons more.
