  • WWE house show report 7-12 Macon, GA

    By Wynn Etheridge

    1. Prime Time Players d. New Day (X and E)
Great crowd work by New Day. Very good match. Lots of nice tag work by New Day. Titus pinned Xavier after sit out spinebuster. 12 minutes.

    2. Zack Ryder d. Bo Dallas.
Good prematch promo by Dallas.  Ryder won outta nowhere with Rough Ryder. 5 min.

    3. Jimmy Uso d. Luke Harper.
    Top rope splash. 8 min

    4. Mark Henry d. R. Truth
Truth did lots of dancing spots early, then Henry squashed him. 5 min.

    5. Ryback d. Big Show
Show took a very impressive slam off the top. Then The Ryback won with a flying splash off the top. 10 min

    6. Nikki Bella d. Naomi and Paige in triple threat match.
Bellas were total babyfaces. Crowd was super dead. Match wasn’t good. Nikki pinned Naomi with Rack Attack after Tamina laid Paige out on the floor. 5 min

    7. Kevin Owens d Neville
Best match of the night. Owens cut a promo promising to beat Balor at Takeover, but before that beat Cena at Battleground, but before that beat Neville tonight. Crowd was really into it. Every time Neville climbed the ropes everyone rose to their feet. Owens hit a popup powerbomb after rolling out of the way of the Red Arrow. 13 min.

    8. Randy Orton d Sheamus
Lots of brawling on the floor to start. Took a while to get going, but the crowd was super into it at the end. Orton hit the RKO after a missed Brogue Kick 20 min.

One odd thing was they kept announcing Battleground as “available ONLY on the WWE network.”

    Thanks
    Wynn Etheridge

  • WWE NXT July 11 house show results: Finn Balor vs. Tye Dillinger

    Submitted By Charles Humphreys

    From Jacksonville, FL

    – Uhaa Nation d. Angelo Dawkins with a standing moonsault in 5:59

    – Carmella & Gionna Daddio d. Cassie & Lina in 7:46 when Carmella made Cassie tap out with her submission finish.

    – Elias Sampson came out next with a guitar. He sang a country song. Was Interrupted by recent signee Manny Garcia. There was a brief brawl and the segment ended with Manny dancing with ring announcer Dasha.

    – Aiden English d. Chad Gable in 8:29 with what looked to be a  side slam of some sort. This was an excellent match. Really surprised me to be honest. Gable spent the match trying to impress Jason Jordan.

    – Enzo Amore & Big Cass & Bull Dempsey d. Tyler Breeze & Blake & Murphy when ENZO AND BULL HIT A DOUBLE SPLASH FROM THE TOP in 8:34. This was so much fun. Bull’s gimmick was that he couldn’t get his shirt off even with Enzo & Big Cass trying to help him. So he just wrestled in it. They did a rope running spot at one point where Bull had to tag out due to getting gassed. This was good stuff.

    Intermission

    – Solomon Crowe vs. Baron Corbin. Corbin wins at 7:17 with the End of Days.

    – Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder & Mike Rawlins d. Mojo Rawley & Zack Ryder & Steve Cutler in 9:54 after a double team codebreaker move on Cutler by The Mechanics.

    – Bayley d. Dana Brooke  in 6:34 with her belly to belly Suplex. Bayley still had a cast on her broken hand. Bayley really connects with the crowd in a special way.

    – WWE NXT Champion Finn Balor d. Tye Dillinger in 12:16 with the Coup de Grace. Pre-match beatdown and promo from Dillinger. They eventually traded leg submissions back and forth. There were some really stiff chops too. Good match.

    Notes:

It was a sold out event. Good, simple show all around and the crowd was super into everything.

  • WWE July 10 Philadelphia house show report results: John Cena vs. Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose

    Submitted by Nick Piccone

    – Intercontinental Champion Ryback d. Mark Henry

    – WWE Tag Team Champions Prime Time Players d. The New Day

The New Day continually posed for the crowd, taunted O’Neil and Young, and the front row behind them. Kofi Kingston even faked throwing his T-shirt into the crowd before throwing it to Xavier Woods on the outside of the ring. He legitimately got booed for doing that.

    – Chris Jericho d. Luke Harper

One of the biggest pops of the night went to Jericho, who is old according to the guy who sat behind me. I mean, I can’t disagree with him. His wife said Luke Harper looked like an old man with no muscle to him who wears his Dungarees up to his nipples. That conversation may have been the best or worst part of my night. I haven’t decided yet. Jericho won with the Codebreaker.

    – United States Champion John Cena (c) d. Kevin Owens by DQ

After a great match, Owens low blowed Cena for the DQ. Owens tried attacking Cena after the match, but ran into an Attitude Adjustment.

    – Divas Champion Nikki Bella (c) d. Paige and Naomi

The fans voted 60% in favor of having both Brie and Tamina stay at ringside, much to the chagrin of Paige, who had nobody to back her up. She tried hugging the referee hoping that he’d somehow be able to help her, but it was not to be. Nikki hit Naomi with the Rack Attack and retained.

    – Roman Reigns d. Bray Wyatt

Reigns rolled up Wyatt for the pin.

    – Neville d. Bo Dallas with the Red Arrow.

    – Street Fight: WWE Champion Seth Rollins (c) d. Dean Ambrose

During the match, Rollins took the mic and ran down Philadelphia-born and bred Extreme Championship Wrestling, to which a lot of kids in the audience started chanting, “ECW!” Sure, it was a funny moment for me because I doubt any of those kids know what Rollins was referencing, but it was a cool aside from the match. He called the audience degenerates and scumbags for liking ECW, so he ultimately lost any good will from the people in the audience who wanted to cherry him because he was “cool.”

Wyatt came in and gave Ambrose the Sister Abigail after he hit Rollins with an elbow through the table. Rollins pinned Ambrose for the win. Wyatt and Rollins attacked Ambrose, Reigns came down for the save. Sheamus came in to cash in his MITB briefcase, but Reigns got to him. Reigns and Ambrose reign supreme to end the show.

WWE announced its coming back to Philly on October 6th for a SmackDown taping.

  • WWE July 11 Pittsburgh house show results: John Cena vs. Kevin Owens street fight

    Submitted by Andy Stowell

    – Tony Chimmel was the announcer. How great is he? Bet he’s had a longer run than Howard Finkel.

    – Neville beat Dallas with the Red Arrow

    – WWE Tag Team Champions Prime Time Players beat New Day

Titus got the pin. Titus is the most underrated guy in the company.

    – Mark Henry killed R Truth

Truths entrance rap was real over.

    – Chris Jericho beat Luke Harper

Y2J out for a Highlight Reel. Just an extended promo before Luke Harper came out. Jericho wins with the code breaker.

They did the video for the Warrior Award and Conners Cure. His family was sitting ringside and getting a lot of attention, especially from the Divas. That video kills me every time.

    – Divas Champion Nikki Bella retained in a three way over Paige and Naomi

    Naomi got pinned.

    – IC Champion Ryback beat Big Show

    – U.S. Champion John Cena beat Kevin Owens in a street fight

wens got a huge reaction. He cut a promo that the Pittsburgh Penguins were his favorite hockey team and he was excited to wrestle in their building. But was sad because the city was garbage–said hey it’s you’re city, you make it garbage. Cena out to more jeers than boos. He did a clever promo urging the kids to cheer because it was a Saturday night after their bedtime and they could scream as much as they want.

Really great match. They used chairs, tables, the ring steps, a metal barrier, and some suplexes on the stage. About 3/4 of the way thru, when Owens was getting the offense, he did a really clever deal where he grabbed the mic, and told Cena it was just time to give up. Just like all these people, time to give up. Cena won shortly thereafter putting Owens thru a table with the Attitude Adjustment for the pin.

    – Return date is Monday Nov 30.

  • WWE July 11 Nashville house show results: Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose street fight

    – Axel/Sandow d. Miz/Adam Rose

    – Jack Swagger submitted Fandango

    – Lucha Dragons d. Ascension

    – Randy Orton d. Sheamus

    – Natalya won a six Diva battle royal (Emma, Cameron, Summer Rae, Alicia Fox, Layla)

    – Roman Reigns d. Bray Wyatt and was laid out after match

    – WWE Champion Seth Rollins d. Dean Ambrose in a street fight (two table spots involved) to retain the Championship when Wyatt interfered and hit the Sister Abigail. Double team stopped after by Reigns. (Only heel win of the night).

    – 11/23 RAW (Survivor Series fallout show) is return date

  • WWE NXT house show report 7-10 Orlando

    By Wayne Mason

It was a sweltering night in Orlando, but fans fought the heat to pile into the National Guard Armory for a night of NXT wrestling action. Even the contestants of Tough Enough were in attendance for a night of action that featured top notch wrestling, WWE legends, and the homecoming of a new champion.

The familiar music of DX hits and out comes Billy Gunn to a huge pop. He speaks for a moment before introducing Lita, who is met with a very enthusiastic crowd. The two introduce the hopefuls of Tough Enough who make their way around the ring greeting the fans. Afterwards the contestants would watch the show from ringside. Even if just plugging a television show, Billy Gunn and Lita are a great way to start the evening.

Our first match of the evening is Uhaa Nation taking on Axel Tischer. The two start off with some impressive grappling before the incredibly agile Uhaa takes control and takes his bigger opponent down with a beautiful dropkick. Moments later Tischer would level Uhaa with a big boot and commence a beatdown. Axel wisely slows the pace, grounding Uhaa and working the arm. Later though Uhaa Nation would mount a comeback culminating in a huge military press followed by a standing moonsault for the victory. This is yet another good match that emphatically states that Uhaa Nation is going to be a very big deal in NXT. Ty Dillinger must agree, because afterwards he scored the match a 9.

Next up, Cassie McIntosh takes on Dana Brooke. Early in the match Cassie takes control with an onslaught of offense culminating in a nice headscissors. Eventually, Brooke takes control mostly brawling and using her power to her advantage. Dana traps Cassie in a grounded abdominal stretch until she manages to break free. Cassie comes back with a series of high kicks and a crossbody off the turnbuckles. She attempts to climb the ropes again but Brooke hoists Cassie onto her shoulders and slams her to the mat with a Samoan Driver to gain the pin. There were some rough spots for Dana but overall she is showing a lot of improvement. Cassie McIntosh continues to impress and is proving to be a valuable addition to the NXT roster.

Next, the ring is set up with leopard skin furniture and Cass and Enzo come out to a huge pop. They announce the inaugural addition of their new show, Sawft Talk. They introduce their first guest, Preston Cunningham Jr the 1st aka Josh Woods. Enzo comments that with his tattoos and attire Preston looks like the love child of Baron Corbin and Tiger Woods. Later in the segment Preston explains that his father earned their money the old fashioned way, by inheritance. He also tells us that his father bought him the best MMA training money could buy. Enzo and Cass don’t seem impressed and things start to unravel. Cunningham snatches the microphone from Enzo and says his “daddy” paid good money for him to be here and he would not be disrespected. Amore ended up smacking the spoiled rich kid several times with a leopard skin pillow before Cass dropped him with a big boot. This was a goofy segment, but it did explain a little more about Preston Cunningham.

The action continues with Bull Dempsey taking on the tortured Marcus Louis. In the opening moments Bull is obviously apprehensive to lock up with the maniacal Frenchman. Bull backs up out of the ring and Marcus gives chase. The two run around the ring until a visibly winded Dempsey rolls back into the ring and asks for a time-out to catch his breath. Marcus will not relent and the two end up running the ropes for an absurd amount of time. Dempsey takes down Marcus with a shoulder tackle, but exhausted collapses onto him. The two eventually make it back up and Louis attacks violently first with a series of knees and continues to decimate his opponent. Bull comes back with a flurry of punches and lays out Marcus. Dempsey climbs the ropes and crashes onto Louis with a seated senton for the victory. Ty Dillinger gave the match of 3 but Marcus began to flip out, so he gave it a 5 instead. This was a fun match, Bull is starting to connect with crowds more than ever while Marcus Louis is still very underrated in my estimation.

Tag team action is next as “The Hype Bros” Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley take on Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder. The Hype Bros start off strong keeping one step ahead of their opponents. Mojo goes into his shtick informing the crowd that Dawson isn’t hyped and can’t get chicks. Dawson and Wilder manage to take control of the match and isolate Ryder. Employing frequent tags and great tandem wrestling Dawson and Wilder take apart Ryder culminating in a nice guillotine. Eventually though Ryder would find an opening and make the hot tag to Mojo who would take out Dawson and Wilder with a series of splashes and shoulder tackles. Rawley picks up Wilder and Ryder comes off the ropes with a Rough Ryder for the win. Tag teaming is doing Mojo well and he is showing some improvement in the ring, though I still don’t get the character at all. House show faithful will attest to the fact that Dawson and Wilder steal house shows on a regular basis, I just wish they were challenging for gold, rather than losing the majority of their matches.

The night continues with Ty Dillinger taking on Tyler Breeze. The two are so evenly matched and it shows for much of the back and forth contest. Eventually Dillinger takes over working the arm of Breeze before mocking him atop the turnbuckles. Breeze makes a very aggressive comeback and drops Ty with a superkick. Ty fights back, showing a very aggressive mean streak of his own. With Breeze grounded, Ty hikes down his kneepad to go for his knee smash. With the refs attention elsewhere Breeze takes advantage poking Dillinger in the eye and following with a Beauty Shot for the victory.

Triple threat tag action is up next with The Vaudevillians vs Blake and Murphy vs Jordan and Gable. Much of the early goings of the match saw the champs Blake and Murphy getting owned by both team. The match was fast paced with lots of blind tags and too much back and forth to call. Eventually it is English that finds himself isolated and being picked apart by both teams until he makes the hot tag to a very fired up Simon Gotch. In the fray all competitors end up in the ring as Gotch nails them all with forearms in each corner. Ultimately, everybody starts nailing everybody left and right until a confident Blake lays out Gable with a cutter. Unfortunately for him he was left in the ring with both Vaudevillians. Gotch nails him with an uppercut to the back of the head and English follows with a swinging neckbreaker for the victory. This was a great match and likely the best of the night. All six men looked great in this contest, but Chad Gable is definitely the standout for me. Pound for pound he is easily one of the best wrestlers in NXT, with a chance and proper booking he’ll end up at the top.

Sasha Banks is out next for a promo. She lets us know that her title signifies that she is better than all of us and better than all of the women in the back. She reminds us that she has beaten Charlotte, Bayley, and Becky. But then she is interrupted by Carmella who tells her that she didn’t hear her name on that list. Carmella issues a challenge but Sasha declines and begins to leave. Carmella calls her Sawft and tells her “Bye Felicia”. An irate Sasha Banks charges back to the ring and a match is on. Both women are fired up and the match goes back and forth until Sasha nails Carmella with double knees in the corner. Banks slows the pace contorting Carmella into an abdominal stretch. Carmella gets free and comes back with a beautiful head scissors followed by three Lou Thez Presses. Moments later she attempts to set up her headscissor submission but Banks wisely evades. Carmella gives chase but Banks pulls her into the ropes and follows with a backstabber and a Bank Statement for a submission victory. Carmella has so much potential, it’s nice to see her going toe-to-toe with the champ rather than accompanying her “boys” to the ring.

In our main event Baron Corbin challenges new NXT champion Finn Balor in a title match. Before introductions are even done Corbin jumps Finn, drops him with a big boot and continues to beat him down. Balor mounts a brief comeback but Baron drops him with a jaw shattering punch. Corbin slows down the pace picking apart the champ methodically. Finn comes back with a few chops and a pele kick. Balor takes down Corbin with a slingblade. Finn attempts to dropkick Corbin into the corner but gets caught and laid out with a huge swinging side slam. Frustrated Corbin grabs a chair but the referee wrests it from his hands. Corbin lays out Balor with another big boot. Baron climbs the turnbuckle but Finn drops him with a kick to the head. Finn follows dropkicking Corbin into the turnbuckles and follows with a Coup De Grace for the win.

From top to bottom it was a fun night and no doubt the standing room only crowd went home happy. Hopefully the cast of Tough Enough were paying close attention, they have big boots to fill.

  • WWE NXT July 9 Largo, FL, house show results: Tag team title three-way, Sasha Banks vs. Carmella

    Submitted by Chris

    – Dasha and Zahra Schriber split ring announcing duties.

    – Uhaa Nation def. Elias Sampson with a standing moonsault.  Nation’s physique blew away everyone else on this show and his athleticism was very impressive.

    – Gionna Daddio and Lina def. KC and Jessie.  Daddio has a Jersey gimmick.  She sold most of the way until Lina came in, cleaned house and got the pin with a spinebuster. KC looked pretty good here.

    – Sasha Banks came out for a promo and was bragging about being the queen of the divas division when Carmella came out to set up a title match for later.

    – Mike Rawlis def. Angelo Dawkins with a razors edge.  Not much to this one.

    – Jason Jordan and Chad Gable def. The Mechanics (Dash and Dawson).

    – Bull Dempsey def. Tyler Breeze with the top rope sit-down splash.  Tons of comedy here as Dempsey got a burger from the concession stand before the show started.  In the match, they did a criss-cross spot until Bull got blown up.  Then a bag of Doritos was thrown in the ring and they did some spots around that for minute.  Crowd was into Bull’s antics.

    – Baron Corbin def. Solomon Crowe with the end of days.  Standard fare.

    – Preston Cunningham Junior the first (that’s not a typo) came out and cut a promo on how his dad funded the show for us fans.  This was dying when Sabby Piscatelli came out. He’s a former Buccaneer player so he got a reaction. He turned heel by insulting the town.  The two eventually got into a brief brawl before Sabby ran off.

    – Women’s Champion Sasha Banks def. Carmella to retain the women’s title with the bank statement submission. Pretty good match here with some chain moves and reversals.

    – Tag Champions Blake and Murphy won a three-way over Enzo & Cass and the Vaudevillains with the superplex/frog splash combo on Enzo.  Enzo and Cass got the biggest reaction of the night by far.  Vaudevillains were over as well.

    Notes:

The advertising and Twitter is very weird regarding these shows.  First off, WWE rarely delivers on who they advertise.  This listing had Balor, Charlotte, Banks, Bayley, Tyler Breeze, Enzo & Cass.  Balor, Charlotte and Bayley all weren’t here.  Secondly, on Twitter, Braun Stroman, Bayley and Becky Lynch all tweeted today about the show but didn’t appear.

  • WWE Smackdown July 9 TV results & recap: Seth Rollins vs. Ryback, Big Show vs. Roman Reigns

    By Steve Khan, WrestlingObserver.com

    – Air Date: July 9, 2015 (July 8 in Canada)

    – Location: Bradley Center in Milwaukee, WI

    The Big News:

Dean Ambrose had a difficult time with Bo Dallas, Roman Reigns got outsmarted again by Bray Wyatt, and Seth Rollins couldn’t beat Ryback.

    Show Recap:

Seth Rollins, who else, came out to start the show without his security. Rollins called himself more of a man than anyone in the crowd, which is technically true of roughly half the crowd. Rollins said he called out Brock Lesnar to face him man-to-man but Lesnar is a coward who took out his frustrations on his new Cadillac CTS, while also snapping Jamie Noble’s arm and suplexing Joey Mercury through the windshield.

Rollins said the $56,000 is pocket change to him, but the car was gift was for his family and Lesnar messed with his family. As Rollins went on about slaying the beast, a rollback tow truck backed in with the destroyed Cadillac and Tom Phillips fake-laughed.

Paul Heyman came out and said Rollins would be alone at Battleground, insinuated that J&J won’t be there. Heyman said the damage to the car pales in comparison to what Lesnar would do to Rollins for violating the 11th commandment and Lesnar would drag him down to the pits of Suplex City.

Rollins said he would be the one to leave Lesnar looking like the car, leaving Heyman all alone with no client. Rollins repeated all of his accomplishments and Heyman said Lesnar would be standing tall with the title.

Before Heyman could finish yelling Brock Lesnar’s name, Rollins told him to shut up and announced that he would be leaving as champion. (It doesn’t matter, but if you listen closely, you can tell Seth had to redub a few words at the end of his promo.)

They announced Rollins vs. Ryback and Roman Reigns vs. Big Show for tonight.

Dean Ambrose beat Bo Dallas via pinfall

Bo cut a dumb promo before the match, taking credit for The Rock’s success and saying Ambrose needed to shower. Bo tossed Ambrose shoulder first into the ring post four times and then into the barricade. Bo hit a suplex and applied a headlock, which went all the way through a commercial break.

Ambrose fought out and popped up like a movie monster, stopping Bo in his tracks. That was funny. Ambrose hit a suicide dive, tossed Bo back in the ring and went to the top, but Bo ran up the middle rope and suplexed Ambrose, followed by a downward spiral for a two count. Ambrose came back with a bulldog and Dirty Deeds for the win. Bo got way too much offense and I have no idea why they did this match again.

Backstage, Show asked Rollins if he was overwhelmed. Rollins said no, but would appreciate any help in taking down Lesnar. Show said this was Rollins’ mission and asked if he could handle Ryback tonight. Rollins said he would make an example of Ryback because brains always beats brawn. Show told Rollins he had the right attitude and would take out Reigns tonight.

They recapped the Rusev-Ziggler segment from Raw. Phillips said Ziggler suffered a severely bruised trachea.

Rusev (w/Summer Rae) beat Fandango via submission

Rusev is now wearing boots, which the commentators acknowledged. Fandango tried flirting with Summer. And by flirting I mean thrusting in her direction. Fandango got some offense but Rusev won after a superkick and Accolade.

Rusev wouldn’t break the hold after the match and Summer didn’t stop him. He eventually did stop and posed with Summer. Quick win but he took too many bumps considering his opponent. Rusev did appear to be moving around fine.

Roman Reigns beat Big Show via DQ

Show wore a sleeveless compression shirt under his singlet for some reason. The match essentially started with the finishing sequence. Reigns sized up Show for the superman punch and Bray Wyatt’s music hit. Someone started down the aisle but Reigns knew it wasn’t Wyatt.

Wyatt appeared from behind and Reigns turned around and hit him with a superman punch. The lights came back on and Reigns hit Show with two superman punches and got ready for the spear, but Wyatt crotched him on the steel post for a DQ. Show immediately hit a chokeslam and Wyatt followed with a Sister Abigail. Wyatt posed and got decent heat.

Both heels basically no-sold the superman punch and Reigns was again thwarted easily. Also, Jimmy Uso—who spoke about how well he knew Reigns during this match—just sat there and watched.

Titus O’Neil (w/Darren Young) beat Big E (w/Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) via pinfall

With both men down, Kingston and Woods jumped on the apron so the referee tossed them. O’Neil hit his sitout spinebuster for the win.

Randy Orton came out for a promo. Orton said he’s been in WWE for 13 and has made plenty of enemies but nobody has gotten under his skin more than Sheamus. Oh, really? He asked the Milwaukee crowd if they thought Sheamus was entertaining and they booed. Orton said he would try to make Sheamus entertaining by ripping off his stupid mohawk and shoving it up his white arse.

Orton was about to leave, but The Ascension came out, angry at him for taking away from their match time. They told Orton to leave but he didn’t. Orton gave Konnor an RKO and Viktor an elevated DDT. Orton finished off Viktor with an RKO and Phillips yelled “RKO outta nowhere!” even though he was standing right in front of the guy. This segment was fine.

They recapped the Cena-Cesaro match from Raw.

Alicia Fox & Brie Bella (w/Nikki Bella) beat Tamina & Naomi via pinfall

Naomi and Tamina worked over Brie who eventually tagged in Fox for the quietest hot tag ever. Tamina blind tagged in but Nikki distracted the referee, Brie attacked Tamina from behind and Fox finished her with an ugly scissors kick. Tamina actually kicked out right after the three count, probably because Fox doesn’t know how to cover her opponent. This sucked.

Backstage, Ryback told a male interviewer that Rollins is a pathetic, gutless child, and that champions don’t run and hide. He said Rollins couldn’t run tonight and Ryback would show him what it’s like to be a real champion. This was… pretty good.

They announced Brock Lesnar would be on Raw this Monday.

Non-Title: IC Champion Ryback beat WWE Champion Seth Rollins via countout

Jerry Lawler reiterated that Rollins is the champion so the money lost on the car is no big deal to him. I’m glad they mentioned this again. Ryback did a delayed vertical suplex which Phillips said went close to a minute. It was actually 28 seconds. Uso said his nose bled the last time he took this move.

After a break, Rollins knocked Ryback out of the ring with a superkick, hit a suicide dive and launched him into the barricade. Rollins tossed Ryback in the ring before mimicking Lesnar by leaping onto the apron.

Ryback came back with a shoulder block, back body drop, running powerslam and spinebuster. Ryback countered a superkick into a powerbomb and followed with a meat hook clothesline. Rollins slipped out of a shellshock and hit an enziguri. Rollins grabbed his belt and began leaving but Ryback went after him.

Rollins again slipped out of a shellshock and sprinted through the crowd. Ryback won via countout as Rollins posed on the stage with the WWE title.

Big Show came out and went after Ryback with Rollins. They beat on him briefly until Reigns came out for the save. Reigns nailed Show with a spear and Ryback finally caught Rollins with a shellshock. Ryback’s music played as he and Reigns posed to end the show.

    Final Thoughts:

This show sucked. No good wrestling and the two advertised main events ended in a DQ and countout. Also, Tom Phillips is awful.

  • WWE News: Main event for next NXT Takeover show announced

It was announced Thursday at San Diego Comic Con that a Finn Balor vs. Kevin Owens rematch for the NXT title will headline their 8/22 show in Brooklyn at the Barclays Center.

The show will go head-to-head with the ROH show at MCU Stadium the night before SummerSlam.

  • WWE NXT July 8 TV results & recap: Finn Balor vs. Kevin Owens replay, no. 1 tag team title contenders match

By Emerson Witner, WrestlingObserver.com & Wrestling Outsiders Podcast

    The Big News:

Finn Balor defeated Kevin Owens to win the NXT Title. Plus the Gentlemanly Grapplers, The Vaudevillians, were victorious in their voyage to the #1 Contendership to the Tag Team Titless.

    Show Recap:

They started the show by airing a video package on Beast in the East and announced that they will air the NXT Title match, in its entirety, later tonight.

The BFF’s defeated Dana Brooke & Emma

Sasha is now a baby face for some reason. Sasha has no friends, so she was ready to go 2-on-1 with her opponents when Charlotte came down and made herself Sasha’s partner so she could get at Dana. See they could have combined the WWE and NXT story lines and had Paige come out, but WWE doesn’t think that far ahead.

I fully expected this to turn into a 3-on-1 beat down on Charlotte, but I was wrong. Oh well. Sasha and Charlotte did some of their team moves, but the heels took down Charlotte and got the heat on the former champion. Emma and Dana did that really annoying thing The Ascension used to do where they rapidly tag in and out for like 30 seconds. That is just ridiculous.

The fans can’t figure out if they want Sasha or not. Anyway Sasha got the hot tag and went wild on her fighting female foes and eventually won with the Bank Statement on Dana Brooke while Charlotte had the Figure Eight on Emma.

After the match, Charlotte challenged Sasha to a title match next week, since Sasha promised it in exchange for being her partner tonight. Sasha accepted it and we have a rematch from December next week.

    – Bayley was at an NXT Live Event this past weekend and commented that Emma broke her hand. She stated that she is going to come back from injury and win the Women’s Title. This is the second injury Bayley has had in 6 months and the second time she has promised to come back and win the belt.

Finn Balor pinned NXT Champion Kevin Owens to win the belt

This was, obviously, the match from Saturday in Tokyo. This was an excellent match from beginning to end. The only funny thing is they literally just aired Beast in the East as the lead in to this episode of NXT. Anyway, the King is dead, long live the new King of NXT.

Owens was asked afterwards how he feels about losing and Owens shoved the camera away.

    – Chad Gable said Jason Jordan doesn’t want to win and doesn’t want to dominate and that’s why he hadn’t agreed to be his partner. Jordan walked in and finally agreed to be his partner next week.

    – Solomon Crowe is back. He is meaner, badder and nastier than ever before.

    Solomon Crowe submitted Marcus Louis

Marcus Louis is back too. He got his head shaved at NXT Takeover: Fatal 4-Way on September 11, 2014. Neither the hair on top of his head nor his eyebrows have grown back yet.

Crowe almost won by pinfall and then by submission in the first 30 seconds of the match. Crowe went for a Springboard Something, but Louis hit the ropes and Crowe fell stomach first on the top rope. Louis locked on a kneeling Abdominal Stretch and did the claw hold on Crowe’s ribs, but Crowe fought out of it.

Crowe used a Twist of Fate, which was called a Unique Maneuver, the CM Punk running knee and won with the Crowe Bar.

    – The Vaudevillians vowed to be victorious over the villainous vagabonds Enzo and Cass.

    – Balor celebrated winning the title last week by standing against a wall with Cesaro and Neville until John Cena congratulated him. He looked like such a geek with a look like “OMG! He talked to me!” on his face.

    – Next week: An update on Sami Zayn.

In a #1 Contender’s Match, The Vaudevillians defeated Enzo Amore & Colin Cassidy (w/Carmella)

Trivia Time! The Vaudevillians were the first team to ever lose to Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy. Blake and Murphy beat them so bad that they got the confidence to win the tag titles the very next week. Also when Enzo Amore had a broken leg, Colin Cassidy’s only feud was losing over and over again to Aiden English. Now that we have had Trivia Time, it is now MAIN EVENT TIME!

Fast paced grappling early on with Enzo and Cass in control through the commercial break. Aiden got the heat on Enzo when Amore goofed around and ran into the feet of NXT’s resident opera singer. The Gentlemanly Grapplers had their way with Enzo until Enzo almost literally fell into a hot tag. Cass gave Aiden the big boot and Simon the Black Hole Slam.

Finally they went for the Rocket Launcher, but Simon tackled Colin out of the ring and Aiden rolled through a flying cross body from Enzo and scored the shocking win!

The Vaudevillians now get their shot at redemption! They now get their show at Blake and Murphy and the Tag Team Titles. That does it for this week, until next week, remember to say your vitamins and take your prayers!
