  • WWE News: John Cena pulled from dates due to injury, Daniel Bryan book hits NYT list

    – U.S. Champion John Cena was pulled from all Australian dates from 8/6 to 8/8 due to the broken nose he suffered on Monday’s RAW match with Seth Rollins.

    He was also pulled from advertising this morning from Saturday’s WWE house show in Ontario, CA, where as of Thursday night, he was still being advertised for a cage match with Kevin Owens.  He was also pulled from advertising for Monday’s Raw show in San Jose.  He has also been pulled from the advertising for the 8/10 Raw show in Everett, WA, and all house shows the next weekend, but is advertised for the go-home RAW or SummerSlam in Minneapolis on 8/17.

    However, he is still being advertised for Sunday’s house show in Fresno, although it is unlikely he will be there and almost certainly will not be wrestling on the show.

    – In its first week of release, the Bryan Danielson/Daniel Bryan autobiography “Yes” was ranked No. 18 on the New York Times best seller list in the adult non-fiction category. 

  • Wednesday night ratings from TNA & ROH

    Destination America ratings for Wednesday were:

    9 p.m. TNA 343,000 viewers

    11 p.m. ROH 171,000 viewers

    Midnight TNA 64,000 viewers

    The ROH number was its second biggest for an individual airing, but obviously the total audience was way down as compared to weeks with two airings.  TNA’s 9 p.m. show had its biggest number since 7/8.

  • VIDEO: UFC 190 Embedded, Episode 4

    Fight week continues on with the latest edition of UFC 190 Embedded building to Saturday night’s event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In this episode, it is time for open workouts and media day. UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey and challenger Bethe Correia are greeted warmly by fans, do their workouts and take pictures with fans. Fighters get in late night workouts as Saturday’s event draws near. Then, it is off to media day where we hear from the fighters and then face-offs, including a heated one between Rousey and Correia. All of that and more, so check out episode four of UFC 190 Embedded above.

  • Hogan’s lawyer claims in court media stories have ended his career and ruined his legacy

    Hulk Hogan’s legal team was in court yesterday in St. Petersburg, FL, filing a request to investigate what they called a potentail violation of a protective order by Gawker from the stories in Radar Online and the National Enquirer that have been reported all week of Hogan using racial and homophobic slurs while having taped sex with Heather Clem.

    According to reports from Anna Philllips of TampaBay.com, Hogan’s lawyer claimed in court that the potential leaks from Gawker have ruined Hogan’s career and his right to a fair trial.  They have asked for a forensic electronics expert to examine Gawker’s computers and phones to see if there was any communication with The National Enquirer.

    Gawker claimed in court that they have scrupulously followed the court’s order, that they did not share the confidential transcripts with the media and said that there is a long list of people who know of Mr. Bollea’s use of racist language long before Gawker did, and said that far too many people had those transcripts.  They also noted The National Enquirer denied Gawker as the source and called this claim “the last refuge of a desperate litigant.”

    Hogan’s attorney said yesterday, “His career is done.  He’s been fired from WWE.”

    Hogan’s attorney held up a print out from last year of an article entitled, “How to Leak to Gawker Anonymously” to show Gawker knows how to do so.

    The judge didn’t rule on the motion and scheduled the trial for March 7, 2016.

  • TNA couple expecting first child

    Newly marred Wesley “Davey” Richards and Lauren “Angelina Love” Williams announced that they are expecting their first child.  The two were married on 6/10. 

    Both had been working the tapings the marathon tapings TNA was doing that concluded last night in Orlando.  Love was on the tapings but didn’t appear in the shows that were taped last night.  She didn’t wrestle in any matches at the tapings.

  • Bound for Glory main event announced

    Since TNA is taping months ahead, they have announced that the main event for Bound for Glory on 10/4 in Charlotte will be Ethan Carter III vs. Drew Galloway for the TNA title.

    • Fabricio Werdum said today at a press conference that he wants to fight on the Aldo vs. McGregor show.  Smart guy, as heavyweight champion and getting a PPV percentage on a 1+ million buy show instead of a show that does less than one third of that.
    • Weekend UFC programming

    There will be a special 90 minute weigh-in show tomorrow starting at 4:30 p.m. Eastern time with Jon Anik, Kenny Florian, Rashad Evans, Ariel Helwani and Molly McGrath.  The reason it’s longer is because Rousey weigh-ins always draw the most viewers.

    FS 1 will have a Ronda Rousey marathon tomorrow night starting at 6 p.m. with every single solitary second of Rousey’s one round armbars and other UFC fights.  At 8 p.m., there will be a women’s bantamweight special airing the best women’s bantamweight fights in UFC history (more Rousey).

    The pre-fight show airs at 7 p.m. Eastern on FS 1, followed by the prelims from Rio de Janeiro at 8 p.m. and the post-fight show on FS 1 at about 1:30 a.m.

    The first 20 minutes of the UFC Countdown show.  Talk about a promo that gets people into a fight.

    • WWE stock closed today up $2.88 to $19.36. 
    • The Draft Kings web site is offering 60 days of UFC Fight Pass free to anyone to signs up by midnight Eastern time tonight.  You will receive an e-mail from UFC Fight Pass tomorrow with a code to activate the trial.
    • A note on today’s audio when talking about a one-year WWE Network subscription, there wont’ be a problem with people canceling because a one-year discounted subscription would all be billed up front as opposed to being billed monthly.

    • Justin Wren, who left MMA five years ago, returns on the 8/28 Bellator show facing Josh Burns.  Wren’s departure is chronicled in the booker “Fight for the Forgotten:  How a Mixed Marital Artist Stopped Fighting For Himself and Started Fighting for Others,” that will be released on 9/15.  Wren spent his time in Congo with the Mbuti Pygmies.  Wren and people he worked with bought the freedom of slaves and gave them 2,740 acres of rain forest to work on, drilling water walls and starting a farming project.
    • ROH and Figures Toy Company announced a new Michael Elgin action figure as part of the new ROH line.
    • Ronda Rousey noted that she was randomly drug tested three times prior to Saturday’s fight.
    • Chris Wade pulled out of his 8/23 fight in Saskatoon against Olivier Aubin-Mericier.  UFC announced Tony Sims as the replacement.  This will be part of the main card on FS 1 that night.
    • Takeya Mizugaki vs. George Roop was announced for the 9/27 UFC show at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan.
    • WSOF announced Yushin Okami dropping to 170 pounds to face Jon Fitch as part of a double headliner on 10/17 at the Foxwood Resorts in Mashantucket, CT on NBC Sports.  The other main event will be Blagoi Ivanov defending the heavyweight title against Derek Mehmen.  Former TUF fighters Matt Hamill vs. Vinny Magalhaes is also on the show.
    • On Saturday, Ronda Rousey vs. Bethe Correia will be only the fourth fight in UFC history where there has been a title match with two undefeated fighters.  The others were Rousey vs. Cat Zingano, Rousey vs. Sara McMann and Lyoto Machida vs. Rashad Evans.
    • Zack Mwekessa vs. Saulo Cavalari will be the Glory headline match on 9/19 in San Jose as part of Spike’s Glory/Bellator dual show from the SAP Center.  Mwekassa defends his light heavyweight title against a guy who beat via third round knockout.
    • The Fight Network and NBC Sports Network airs WSOF on Saturday night at 11 p.m. with the Rousimar Palhares vs. Jake Shields fight for the welterweight title as the main event, going head-to-head with the UFC PPV show.

    Nattie Can’t Say No To People

    Nattie keeps agreeing to do people favours and it’s making TJ made. This week, she agrees to board 19 cats from an animal shelter at their home – and has to pawn the task off on her parents because she and TJ are gonna be on the road. She also agrees to let Adam Rose, Titus O’Neil and Heath Slater ride with them when their car breaks down, which turns into a disaster due to Titus being flatulent and loud, and Heath taking them to a strip club for dinner. TJ tells Nattie she has to say no sometimes, and she resolves to do so.

    Paige and Alicia

    Paige and Alicia are supposed to move in together, but then Paige decides to move in with her new boyfriend instead. Alicia gets mad at Paige for bailing on her, and Paige gets mad at Alicia for getting mad at her about it. They talk it out and Alicia admits she may have been a tiny bit jealous of Paige having success in her relationships.

    Nikki and Bryan

    Nikki thinks Bryan doesn’t like her because he keeps teasing her. She and Brie talk it out, then put Bryan on speakerphone while they’re driving. Bryan says he loves Nikki and she’s family, but there are many things he doesn’t like about her – including how materialistic she is compared to how Bryan is nothing like that. Bryan says his teasing is how he shows affection, but he says he won’t do it anymore if it bothers her.

    CenaWatch Update

    John Cena is mentioned but doesn’t appear, but the teaser for next week indicates that he will appear this season!

  • TNA Impact spoilers from last night

    These are notes from last night’s tapings.  Tonight will be the final tapings of this set and the last TNA live activity for several months.

    Xplosion:  Mandrews & Tigre Uno b TJP (Manik without a mask) & DJ Zema Ion

    EC 3 came out with his new assistant, Jeffrey Hardy (when Matt lost to EC 3, by stips Jeff became the assistant).  He and Tyrus bullied Jeff around.  Jeff also has to do introductions for EC 3, they are clearly building EC 3 vs. Jeff when Jeff is healthy

    EC 3 & Tyrus b Matt Hardy & Spud.  EC 3 ordered Jeff to hit Spud with a chair but he refused.

    Jeff & Karen Jarrett were out.  They were confronted by Bobby Roode.  They teased a match but Karen stopped it from happening.

    Tigre Uno & Micah & Robibe E b Kenny King & Eli Drake & Jessie Godderz

    Brooke NC Gail Kim when Le’D Tapa and Awesome Kong interfered

    Wolves b Trevor Lee & Brian Myers to regain the tag titles

    Chris Mordetzky b Drew Galloway in a Lumberjack match when Eric Young turned on TNA and joined GFW

    Mahabili Sheera b Abyss when James Storm’s interfererence backfires

    Jeff Jarrett and Dixie Carter signed a contract where the winner gets the losers stock in TNA.  They went back and forth with shoot oriented comments.  Jeff Jarrett beat up Jeremy Borash during the segment.

    Gail Kim regained the Knockouts tilte over Brooke, Kong and Tapa

    Matt Hardy b Jessie Godderz

    Davey Richards Eddie Edwards & Bram & Drew Galloway & Bobby Lashley b Sonjay Dutt & Eric Young & Brian Myers & Chris Mordetzky & Jeff Jarrett in the Lethal Lockdown match when Galloway pinned Myers.  So Dixie Carter owns TNA and Jarrett failed in his bid to take over the company.
