A look at the Wrestling Observer Year End Awards (Warning: There are some spoilers here, if you haven’t gotten your new WON then wait until you read it to listen to the show). I look back at the awards historically including detailed discussions on Wrestler of the Year and Most disgusting promotional tactics. It’s a long show detailing all the awards, plus the return of this day in wrestling history.

December 30 2007 Karl Stern Show
You’re on patrol with Karl! That’s right, since I never have a day off any more I turned on my pocket tape recorder and talk about the history of the world heavyweight championship from the 1850’s until present (the NWA linage anyway). The show sounds a bit different due to my tape recorder. Bustin’ perps (OK, I’ve never used that term in real life nor ever heard it used) and talkin’ NWA history. It’s the Karl Stern Classics Show.

Karl Stern Classics Show
On today’s show we plug listener questions into the time machine. Who was Mike Jackson? The original Fantastics or the original Fabulous Ones- it might not be who you think. Plus tons of information on Pat Rose, The Nightmares, Mr. Wrestling II, the other Buddy Wayne, and much more. My match against a future star in WWE and Japan. An hour of old school wrestling goodness. Likely the only show you’ll hear this week that mentions Zan Panzer~! -
December 16 2007 Karl Stern Show
Today the time machine goes back to the era of World Class Championship Wrestling as I review the new WWE Triumph and Tragedy of World Class DVD. An emotional offering from WWE about a territory where almost everybody ended up dead. The Von Erichs reigned supreme (for a while). The Freebirds reunited and more. Plus, I tell you why I developed the opinion there may never have been a more despicable human being than World Class promoter Fritz Von Erich after watching this disk.

December 6 2007 Karl Stern Show
This week is a little different. I talk about when pro wrestling become worked and how styles changed over the years. How people who say wrestling was better back in my day don’t realize wrestling has always changed. I looked at cards from 1916, 1940, 1960, 1980, and 1998 and compare the workers and styles. Also this show a look at the early career of Ricky Steamboat including the unusual name he started working under. Also I answer listener questions on Continental, The Zodiac, and more.

December 2 2007 Karl Stern Show
The time machine whirls back to 1989 this week to take a look at a show from WWF, WCW, and Pacific Northwest wrestling. In addition to an examination of these three shows I examine the career of the late Angel of Death (Dave Sheldon). Tacked on at the end is a nice half hour interview with Jeff Jarrett from a couple years back where we talk about his career, TNA, and more. This week with jobber goodness.
